Maia's POV

"Maia!" Cara whined, " I'm bored!" It was a late night in the Hufflepuff common room, the night before the first day of term. Cara was draped against the armchair, and she was doodling on what was supposed to be her charms essay. Just looking at her best friend made Maia smile. She truly was the most amazing, kind, selfless, beautiful girl ever. Maia couldn't wish for a better best friend.

"Then go to bed Care. It's 3 AM. You're not getting any work done anyway. Just copy mine in the morning." Maia responded affectionately to her tall friend. Maia dramatically threw herself onto the couch, and took a sip of hot chocolate. She couldn't drink coffee like her friends, she got too hyper, and was shocked that she was still awake. Usually she was out by 11.

"Maia, you're turning into your brother! Education isn't everything anymore? What happened?" Daisy said sarcastically. Maia smiled at her friend. Daisy knew that Maia had really wanted to be a Ravenclaw, but alas became a badger. Of course she didn't regret it anymore, not being in the same house as Mark, Cara, and Daisy would be pure torture. Besides, they had sleepovers and study sessions with the other houses all the time. Hufflepuff was open to any friend.

"Daisy, I will never be Sirius. He's such a Gryffindor idiot." Maia groaned, sitting up and absent mindedly played with the corner of a yellow pillow. A lot of Gryffindors were idiots. Besides Lily of course. And Remus. They had both been amazing over the past 6 years, and Remus was somewhat a calming influence on Sirius. Somewhat. Okay, barely. But it was something.

"He may be an idiot but ooh! He's hot!" Daisy giggled giddily. Maia threw the pillow at Daisy, and ducked quickly when said pillow came flying back at her head. Daisy had had a crush on Sirius for ages, and Maia could never understand how anyone could feel that way about him. Sirius was gross. And he smelled.

"You guys are insane." Mark said from the corner, brushing his curly blond hair from his eyes and reading a book."One: Daisy, it's 3 AM and you're hyper. 2: Cara, school hasn't even started yet and you're already behind on school work. 3: I'm way hotter than Sirius." Cara nodded to Marks final comment with a giggle, but everyone knew that Mark's relationship with all the girls was purely platonic. They had been friends since third year, when Mark had needed help in Arithmancy, and Maia had been happy to step in. She smiled at the memory, Mark had really sucked at that class.

"True Mark. Besides, we all know i'm the attractive Black twin." Maia says flipping her hair.

Cara nods enthusiastically again, and throws her parchment to the floor. " I'm done, goodnight." and promptly curled up next to the fire and closed her eyes. Maia shock her head and smiled. Of course she wouldn't even go upstairs.

"I'm going to bed too." Maia finally says, lying out across the couch with a yawn. If Cara was sleeping down here, she would too. Maia knew it was ridiculous, but she worried about her muggleborn friend. There was a war going on after all, and you could never be too careful with a muggleborn.

"Night May." Cara responded with a yawn. Only Cara called her May, and it always made her feel all warm and fuzzy inside. What the hell was that supposed to be?

Maia closed her eyes, and whispered "Accio blanket." At this point she was so tired the second the blanket to touched her skin she passed out.
