Summary: Season six...He may be a demon, but deep down Buffy knows he's still just a man...
The Demon, The Man – Spike
By Secret Slayer
A slayer was out, in the dead of the night,
A stake in her hand, a vampire in sight.
With his long leather coat, bleach blonde hair,
And cheek bones to kill, and an icy blue stare.
Buffy was ready, to make the fiend dust,
For his evil ways, she never could trust.
No matter his intentions, he could not be good.
For he had no soul, and never would.
He knew she was there, before she could say,
"Now it's my turn, to have that one good day."
"Not likely, luv," he said with a snort,
Buffy faltered, then suddenly came to a halt.
"Why do you love me?" she asked with a tear.
It was in all honesty, her greatest fear.
She could kill a monster, a demon or ghoul,
But never in life, would she become love's fool.
Spike raised an eyebrow, something clear in his eyes,
For the answer was instant, and by no way a surprise.
"You're a hell of a woman," he said without pause,
"You fight the good fight, with every right cause."
"But you're an evil thing, a monster too."
"You cant love, I mean nothing to you!"
But deep in her heart, she knew it was a lie,
He loved her so much, for her he would die.
In a flash of emotion, she kissed him with heat,
And he pulled her closer, till she was on the tips of her feet.
He felt so alive beneath her touch,
And that's when she started to feel too much.
Was it guilt? Maybe not, but it felt too much the same,
Maybe she should go, before she felt the oncoming shame.
For she knew deep down, she had a feeling for him,
But to be in love, would be a dreadful sin.
He was dead inside, an empty shell,
A demon that belonged in hell.
But then why did he make her feel,
Like suddenly she was really real.
Too quick to be stopped, she pulled away,
And looked in his eyes with much dismay.
With her heart in her throat, she said something new,
"I'm sorry Spike, but I can not love you."
Then just like before, she ran out of sight,
Out of his darkness and into the light.
Tomorrow, he was sure,
She'd be back for more.
And then he'd show her what it was really like,
To be loved by the demon, the man – Spike.
