A/N: I don't know what I was thinking when I typed this up, but it's short. I was trying to go for disconnected in sense, but connected into something...somehow.
It's supposed to be Rodney's mind during the scene in The Shrine when the team visits him in the infirmary to tell him about the shrine of Talus.
I tried something new (for me) and admittedly weird, but do let me know how it turned out anyway. Even if you think it turned out like shite.
Pi
Alone. Alone in his head. Not much in his head.
My head, Rodney corrected.
My head, he repeated. Not much in my head. But bright lights and dizziness outside. Hurts. It hurts my eyes, the round lights.
Round light. Halos. Halos on his eyes. But not halos and there's something there. Something distracting, playing at the edge of what used to be memory.
Angels?
"Hey, Rodney."
That voice. That voice he hears every day. When the lights are bright. When the lights are dark. Always there. That voice.
Jennifer, Rodney sighs, remembering for an instant before drowning.
"You've got some visitors. John's here. So are Teyla and Ronon. Your whole team."
Shadow. No more painful bright lights. Ronon Dex.
"Ronon Dex," he emphatically states. He remembers Ronon Dex. Remembers that voice too. Dark and low. Like no lights, but low sound.
Pressure. He feels the...word?...weight on his leg. Ronon Dex talking now.
So many people now. Not alone anymore. In his head. Still alone in his head, but outside...
No, Rodney shouts. Rodney hears what Ronon is saying, what he wants to do. What they all want to do? He fights and he struggles for that glimmer of sanity, but it's too far and fading too fast and he's drowning again.
Shadows moving. Smaller now. Not Ronon Dex. Pretty?
"As you were before..." The voice wants to talk, but his head doesn't want to listen. The lights are dancing in his eyes and the word sticks for a second.
"Before," his voice whispers it. What's before? What is before? He had to remember something before.
There was a baby. A picture pops in his head. Where's the baby? He held the baby. Soft. He...squirmed? He fell.
Something John.
"Hey." He smiles because he remembers.
"John." The baby.
Loud voices now. Voices are now...mad? Angry. Still talking, but he's not listening. His head is busy now, not empty anymore.
Baby Einstein and a machine for...pretty?
He stares. Ronon Dex is talking to the voice with him every day and it doesn't make sense.
Oh for crying out loud! It all makes sense. A twisted, stupid sort of sense which is what happens when you let the likes of Ronon...
Ronon Dex. Wants to go before. Before?
Before this nightmare. Before I got sick, but only for a little while. That's crazy! That's akin to..."
"Torture than a blessing. We're still..."
Thank you. Don't do it. Magical shrines? Since when do we take scientific...
Science. Important. Something to remember. Something important. Water is important. A sea of it with lights.
"Lantis." Pretty. Important. Something important.
"I can't help you." That voice talking. Angels. Angels and halos. Circles.
Pi. Pi is important.
"Point one four one five nine two six five three five eight nine..."
