Hi. So... Chase and Cameron... err Robert and Allison... it's so sad they get divorced... anyways, this takes place a few... years (? yeah, years) after that little mishap. I'd say this is my first House M.D. fic (which it is), but I don't want you to treat it different because of that. Okay? Okay. Here we go. (I don't own House M.D. cause then they'd still be together. And when you're done, review)

Coming Home

Maybe he let her go because he loved her. He often pondered the thought, anyways. She was the, as he and Foreman tended to call her, the love of his life. Maybe he wasn't hers, but did really matter after all? She left him for bigger and better things. She had never called, not once. He felt a little hurt because of that although it didn't seem to bother him much. Maybe she had gotten married, but he doubted that idea. She was still hung over with thoughts of her late first husband, most likely. That's what hurt him. She wouldn't even be thinking about him because she was thinking of a dead ex. He pushed it put of his mind constantly. He loved her. He wanted her to appear on his doorstep and say, "it's Tuesday." He wanted her to return to him. It was, however, quite unlikely. But he set the ball in motion. He murdered a man, as she put it. She was gone (although the break up sex was good).

He walked to his doorstep and sighed. He really should stop hoping. He unlocked the door and sat on the arm of his couch. Maybe he should move. The haunting memories that lingered there scared him because they reminded him too much of her.

Knock, knock.

He got up to get the door, his face twisted into a confused smile.

"Hi," the visitor said.

"Uh hey," he replied. "What are you… do you want to come in?"

He noticed Cameron's bags behind her as she stepped in.

"Um... Cuddy asked if I could um..." she struggled. He raised his eyebrow.

He smiled already knowing.

"So you stopped by here...?" he tried.

"Because I wanted to say hi… is it such a big deal?"

"No, no, not at all."

"Hasty reply, Chase," Allison Cameron said.

"Mmm..."

"Have you ever heard the saying 'if you love something set it free… if it comes back to you it's meant to be,' Robert?"

"Yes," he said wearily not sure of where the conversation was going.

"I'm back..."

Maybe Allison Cameron would always think of her late first husband, but for now, she was with him. That's what mattered in the end, at least.
