So I just read chapter 550 and I decided to write this little drabble, because frankly, I'm sure there will be people that try to belittle Ace and Luffy's relationship, and that would just piss me off, so I'll beat them too it! A brother is a brother, damn it, blood or not!
Family Ties
It didn't change a thing.
He was still furious at the thought of the execution. Determined to stop it before anyone had to die. Anyone accept, maybe, a few marines—he would be okay with that.
Because Ace was his brother, no matter what those damn marines said. They'd grown up together, shared a dream—to live a life with no regrets. It didn't matter to him, whether they were brothers, cousins, or just two unrelated children that had simply grown up together.
It didn't change a thing.
He was still ready to put his life on the line—to lead his army of four hundred against their army of one hundred thousand. They were more than nakama, they were brothers.
It didn't change a thing.
And really, he hadn't expected it to. Because the bond that they shared was more than enough for him to risk his life. It was all the excuse that he needed to risk his dream of becoming Pirate King.
It didn't change a thing, because brothers were brothers, whether they were tied by blood or not. He was still Ace's brother, and Ace was his—because that was how it had always been.
They were brothers before—and brothers they would remain.
It just generally ticks me off when someone tries to tell you that your sibling isn't actually a sibling because they're not blood related. I've found that silently glaring them down, and then telling them they're an idiot works fairly well to remedy this problem :D
