Must I say it? Fine. Ahem, I DO NOT OWN NARUTO SO GO SET SOMEONE ELSE ON FIRE YOU STUPID FLAMERS! Anywho, I wanted to try my hand at a oneshot. I have been writing(by hand) all these long stories that have some kind of major problem to them and ya know what? I need a break, now, that doesn't mean I won't continue them, as I have promised, any fic that gets on here will be continued to the end, no matter how hard it might be to do so. In fact, after this, I will work on chapter 2 of Heart-Blade. In this story, Neji and Tenten are 13. Just after the chuunin exam. I hope you like my first oneshot!
It was a normal morning at the Hyuga compound. Neji was laying in his bed looking out of his window toward his father's grave. He blinked slowly and got up. He leaped from his window and walked to his father's tombstone. Ever since his match with Naruto, and finding out the truth of his father's death from Hiashi, Neji has visited his father every day.
He sat down right in front of the stone and read over the words carved in it. 'Destiny is something you forge with your own hands. I died because I chose to. I wanted to protect my brother, my family, and my home, not because it was my duty as a member of the branch family.' Neji traced the words with his fingers. He smiled sadly as he remembered his father's letter. The last words his father said to him were 'forge your own destiny, Neji' Neji looked up at the sky and closed his eyes, remembering his father. He turned his head down and smirked. "Come out Tenten, I know you're there." Tenten was hiding in a tree watching him.
Flashback
Tenten was sitting at her computer, looking over story titles (You rock Fanfiction!) completely bored. She had a day off due to Gai and Lee being on a mission. It's not that she didn't appreciate it, she just doesn't have anything to do when she isn't training since she is an orphan. 'Maybe I'll go see what Neji is doing.' She thought as she turned off her computer and went outside. She had walked up to the compound entrance to find Hiashi opening the door and pointing to one of the gardens. She nodded at him and went to the garden he pointed at. She saw Neji jump out of his room and she decided to watch him. 'What's he doing?' She wondered in the tree, just before he caught her.
End Flashback
Tenten jumped out of the tree and walked up to Neji. She was startled when she saw his face. His face was red and tear-stained, like he had been crying. "Neji are you ok?" She asked as she walked closer to him. Neji blinked and slowly nodded. "I'm fine. I was just visiting my father's grave." He turned back to the tombstone and closed his eyes again. "I visit him everyday." Tenten sat down next to him and paid her respects to Neji's father.
When she finished, she looked at Neji with worried eyes. He looked back at her and moved closer to her. "I really miss him Tenten." He said, turning back to the stone. Tenten put an arm around his shoulders and spoke quietly into his ear. "I'm sure he misses you too. Neji, but you two will see each other again." She smiled and turned his face to her. "Until then, you have me." She planted a soft kiss on his lips and moved him closer so he could hear her heart. They held each other very close and somewhere, a dead man's spirit was smiling.
THE END
How was my first oneshot? I know, it could have been a little longer but hey, it's my first time. I will come up with better ideas. I would like suggestions for future oneshots please. Reviews would be nice too! (hint, hint)
