That's My Name
Introduction
Tap
Tap
Tap
It slowly filled the air, the ominous tones of fear and unbridled power. As the noise grew closer in the narrow pasty cream hall, some would stop and stare and others would hide in quiet admiration. The tapping was soon joined by the muted clanging of metal amongst leather and tempered lacquer. Heavy clothing moved with the motions of the body propelling it forward, a ritual among this hallway. The slight beep of the door as it opened with a hiss and the final silence of the tapping as it entered said door.
The other occupants of the hallway consisting of peons and other unimportant personal stopped and went back to their previous tasks. He always got that kind of attention; everyone knew when he passed down the halls. None would notice his presence, not even the best trained of his men, and not even his elite squadron would appreciate the scheduled timing of his arrival as one Gongaga boy.
He waited everyday in the same spot knowing his general all too well. He knew when he arrived in the morning, when he left for lunch, and when he would come back. He enjoyed the predictability; a quick glimpse at something he longed for but secretly could never get. His closest friends would call him obsessed even lust driven, but he knew all the better what it was. It was a quiet admiration of his love, and unknown passion, and a reason to smile. His violet eyes would always watch from the shadows with a quiet smile playing upon his features.
He always, out of habit, hid in the same spot slightly weary of being discovered. But still he would stand to watch as silver danced around his form and how the lights caught it just so. He noted how the man walked and if he could draw, he could recall every feature of him vividly, but not out of a fanboy obsession. Sure, he feared being caught, but that mattered little if he could see the green swirling in his eyes and even the indifferent look on his face. How he longed one day to see a smile from him… and how he longed to call him, his own.
And today was going to change; no longer would he hide in the shadows…
Granted, he fought in the war along side this man he never could come to tell him. He even shared a lunch in his company. One could say they were friends, but he could not bring himself to tell him. Even now he was nervous. He shouldn't be he told himself. Everything was going to remain the same, the casual conversation and then the closed indignation he gave the rest of the world, such was the cruelty of silver. Though, he would still cherish their bond, he dared to call a friendship. Today would change it not. Everything would continue on as normal, business as usual. With a deep breath he moved from behind the plant and into the office where silver disappeared into.
The door closed behind him in an ominous hiss. He saluted slightly as he moved to his desk. The general looked up to acknowledge his presence, but otherwise remained undeterred from his papers and reports.
"Zack, you're late again," It was said as more of a fact and not a scolding, silver never scolded him.
Zack's lips twitched slightly moving to form a slight smile, a small brightness showing his eyes. Though, his general would never know it came from the comfort of his presence, ever there.
"Sorry Sephiroth."
