Here's a one shot on my beloved Toad. Not perfectly written, but enough to share my thoughts on how I see him and how Kermit might as well. A lot of times we look at our flaws and limitations and what we don't realize is that we can use our differences for good, or in itself just to be different. to be the same would have no substance. I remember being teased and teasing others, and i feel guilty and pray for forgiveness and peace of mind. We don't have to love a distinct issue or accept something that we don't agree with but we can still love and care about each other and respect the human beings that we are.
Toad sat crouched on the window sill; his pale, yellow eyes just taking in God's creation. He felt the cool wind against his cheek and thought about his mutation and its limitation. He wondered if his mother would have loved him, if she hadn't died while giving birth to him.
He closed his eyes and remembered the song his first foster mother, who he had called Nana, had sang to him when he had come home from his first day at Kindergarten. The children had cried when he had come in and after that began to stick glue in his hair and had stolen his milk and made him take his nap on the other side of his room.
He began to sing softly to himself a song so childish but comforting, reminding him that he was important no matter what anyone thought.
It's not that easy bein' green
Having to spend each day the color of the leaves
When I think it could be nicer being red or yellow or gold
Or something much more colorful like that
It's not easy bein' green
It seems you blend in with so many other ordinary things
And people tend to pass you over 'cause you're
Not standing out like flashy sparkles in the water
Or stars in the sky
But green's the color of Spring
And green can be cool and friendly-like
And green can be big like an ocean
Or important like a mountain
Or tall like a tree
When green is all there is to be
It could make you wonder why
But why wonder, why wonder?
I am green and it'll do fine
Its beautiful!
And I think it's what I want to be
He smiled to himself and jumped a little when the door opened and Fred peeked inside.
"Hey Blob," Toad said quietly. Fred walked in towards him, adding a couple more dents to his already dented floor and looked out at the window. They smiled at each other and watched as the sun set on another autumn day, knowing that there was more to them then anyone would and could ever know.
