AN: Here it is, one of my largest projects! Nullify, Vilify is one of my favorite stories i plan on doing. so with that, please, enjoy!
"No, it's a horrible idea."
Danny opened his mouth, but Clockwork turned his back to him, "I am the ghost of time, not the ghost of miracle cures."
"Send me back in time to my parents collage days, Clockwork! I can prevent the accident that gave Vlad his original outbreak of Ectoacne-and his ghost powers!" the teen protested. He knew that the ghost would need some convincing before he helped. Actually, Danny didn't even know if that would work. But he had to try, his friends needed help and he had no idea what else to do, who else to turn to. Surely if Clockwork couldn't help, he'd at least point Danny in the right direction. The plan was golden.
Evidently, the ghost still did not think so.
"No. Changing the past can have dire consequences. Besides," Clockwork turned and stared at the young halfa, ignoring how the boy squirmed uncomfortably, "What right do you have to change someone's life?"
Danny frowned. He had plenty of right! And Clockwork knew this, he knew everything!
"Vlad's my enemy! He's always been in my hair, always fighting me, always hurting me! He's an evil, manipulative snake and he plays dirty all the time! It's about time I do something to end this, I'm sick of it! He's a horrible person, and this is the last straw!" Danny explained sharply. He fallowed the cloaked specter as he floated over in front of the huge, curved screens. Pulling his eyes from the screens, he watched as the time ghost shifted into a much younger appearance. "He's poisoned my friends, Clockwork! Sam and Tucker! You know they'll die if I don't do something!"
Clockwork's unblinking, observing eyes narrowed.
"Bending the rules and stooping to his level are two different things; and you are confusing the two. Might I remind you what happened the last time you made a brash decision?" the child-like Clockwork raised his staff and pointed into the depths of the huge mechanical lair. Danny fallowed it till his eyes fell upon a familiar silver cylinder. He resisted the uncontrollable shiver that ran up his spine; the bends and dents in the toppled container worried him. Clockwork ignored Danny's discomfort and continued, "You justify your actions based on the thought that you are right, that you are just. And because Vladimir opposes you, that makes him wrong and villainous, simply by default."
Again, Danny frowned, "That's kind of how we work, Clockwork."
"Is that how you think it goes?" the ghost questioned, "Or is that just all you've ever seen from your point of view?"
Danny didn't know if the question was rhetorical, but even if it wasn't, he didn't have time for this confusing run around. The ticking and clanking of the lair around him only made the feeling that he had precious little time left and he was wasting it even worse. Clockwork crossed his arms, his red eyes ice cold, giving the impression that the ghost was irritated with the him. "Please, Clockwork, I don't want any vague riddles. Sam and Tucker don't have much time!"
"Your motivations are insufficient. You want to change a mans life simply to get him out of the way and make your life easier. You think that retaliation masked under the desire to help your friends is an acceptable coarse of action." Danny flinched; The ghost's voice was louder and colder than any other time he had heard it, "You see only black and white, good and evil, right and wrong. You just don't understand."
"I don't care right now! I need to help my friends!" Danny bared his teeth, eyes glowing a brighter neon lime as he glared at the master of time. Despite his best attempts, his growing irritation and anger slipped into his words; which merely caused Clockwork to glare in return.
"Your perspective is flawed, Daniel." Clockwork droned, a biting edge to his monotonous voice. He raised his staff at the halfa before him, trapping the boy in a cyan haze of energy. Behind him, the monitors all flickered to life, flipping through times and places faster than one could blink. Danny remained tense for a fight as the Time master loomed over him, eyes burning brightly in his irritation, "And I am going to fix it. Allow me to show you what you so vehemently wish to erase. You shouldn't be bothered by anything. After all..."
Clockwork pressed a button on his staff and a barrage of clocks surrounded him and Danny, teleporting them, inevitably, into the past, "You don't care."
AN: I guess this isn't really a chapter and could be more of a prologue. oh well. I plan on having chapter 2 out ahead of schedule due to this.
