Claimed

"Kaiden! NO!" Alex shouted. But it did nothing. He wrapped his hands around Jordan's neck and twisted. Alex fell to her knees, feeling broken. After what had felt like hours, but was probably only a few minutes, she looked up.
The sight was horrific. Apart from Jordan, most of her other friends lay on the ground, all horrifying to look at. Dix had both her arm chopped off and blood all over the ground where she lay and Bear had his eyes gouged out and rolling about. Declan's middle was twisted in an odd shape. Nick had a knife sticking out of his body which was covered with huge glass shards. Brenden's skin on his face was peeling and Seb was covered in blisters which looked ready to pop. Then there was Kyia and Roka in each other's arms, both with flames still licking their clothes and skin. Many others where there as well, some friends, some people she'd seen but never really knew and some who she had never seen before. The ground around her was littered with corpses, all the work of one person.
"Aven", she growled. Aven was watching, his eyes sad.
"Come, come Aeylia. You knew it had to happen", he said told her sadly. But she knew it didn't. She knew she could've changed his mind. "Kaiden, your last order is", he said with a sad smile, "Finish her." Kaiden advanced fast and swung his sword. If Alex had been a normal human then that swing would've lopped her head off.
"Kaiden! Please!" she pleaded. But she knew it was useless. He came at her again and again. She defended herself over and over, never attacking. "Kaiden! Please! It's me! Alex, your girlfriend", but Kaiden just kept attacking.
"Alex stop! Aven please end this madness!" a voice yelled. Alex got distracted by the voice and Kaiden used that to advance on her. Just as he swung the fatal blow, Alex swung her sword in a wide arc. Suddenly, Alex felt like time stopped. There was blood on her hands and on her sword. She looked at Kaiden and saw a big gash in his neck.
"Kaiden! No no no no NO! Kaiden!" she screamed as she sank to her knees. But it was hopeless. She had killed him. A hand landed on her shoulder and she turned quickly to find Niyx behind her. With Aven close behind. Alex lunged for Aven, sword in hand but Niyx grabbed her.
"Alex, please. I need you to listen to me! Aven isn't to blame for Kaiden's death. Someone else is responsible", Niyx said as she struggled against him. "Alex! Aven was claimed Alex! He was claimed!" Alex stopped struggling against Niyx and he carefully let her go. She looked from Niyx to Aven and back.
"How do you know he was claimed?" she asked him.
"While you killed your boyfriend, I tried claiming Aven to make him stop this madness. There were scars on his hand and I had to battle a man to claim him for myself. Thanks to you claiming me before, I won", he explained. He let it sink in and then walked over to Aven. "Aven, once I release you, please accept your release." Niyx cut his palm and Aven's. They put their palms together and Niyx said the words. Aven responded. He lowered his hand and looked at all the people on the ground. He looked at Niyx and then turned to Alex.
"Aeylia… Alex… I… I didn't mean to cause all this destruction. Please believe me!" he said as tears streamed down his face. Alex couldn't look at him. Her emotions were all mixed up and she had no idea what to say or do. Aven's hand slipped into hers and she let it stay there. Niyx's hand was in her other hand and that's how they stayed for what felt like hours. Not talking, just standing and looking at the destruction before them. Alex was the first to break the silence.
"Aven, that man who had claimed you. Who was he?" she asked.
"I'm so sorry Alex. He uses a youth potion and gives one to his wife too. That's how they live for so long."
"Who? Who uses a youth potion?"
"Jack. Jack Jennings"
