Disclaimer: I do not own Rise of the Guardians.
Pitch hated the Guardians. He hated children. He hated the moon.
He hated what the Guardians stood for.
While he may have hated everything in the world, Jack Frost is who he hated the most.
Why was Jack believed in, when he harmed just as many as Pitch? It made no sense. It was just the moon twisting its own rules.
Pitch was evil. Pitch caused terror. But Pitch had never killed humans. He never killed children. He never killed adults.
But Jack's ice and frost, didn't they—although he'll call them "fun"—cause death?
And death killed children, even if they survive. The orphans would live in sorrow for the rest of their lives, possibly never finding happiness.
And wasn't that breaking the rules of being a Guardian?
Jack wasn't a Guardian, so why was he chosen?
Was it because if the child survived the ordeal, they would no longer believe in the Guardians? Would it mean that the Guardians abandoned the children that no longer believed?
Did it mean the moon abandoned the children who no longer believed?
Hypocritical. Pitch shook his head with a gleeful grin. Even though he was labeled as the "bad guy", wasn't he the one who stood for his beliefs? Wasn't he the one who never contradicted himself?
The Guardians were at fault. They blamed him when they were so weak and defeated, but didn't they know that they did the same to him?
Although Pitch would deny, deny, deny, he wanted to be believed in.
It was painful to be walked through, to be treated as invisible.
If he had to use fear, he would use fear.
Fear was in everyone. It was necessary for Pitch's survival.
Not for his sanity, no, because he is already insane.
To be believed in.
Pitch laughed.
It was an impossible hope.
The cursed rabbit wouldn't allow that.
It was an impossible dream.
No, the Sandman would refuse him that.
It was something to wonder at.
The fat man wouldn't let that happen.
He had few memories of being believed in.
But the fairy wouldn't let him relive those blessed moments when he was powerful and feared.
Being believed in was not fun, it was a luxury. And impossible goal. Fun had no place in belief.
Jack wasn't necessary. But he crushed Pitch anyways.
Jack was meaningless. Jack was the evil one. Shouldn't he know how hard it is to live with no belief?
Jack Frost. He represented everything Pitch hated.
He hated children.
He hated Jack's happiness.
He hated Jack's acceptance into the Guardians.
He hated Jack's followers.
He hated Jack Frost.
