A/N: This is my personal headcanon: That Zuko did ask Jin out on a second date, but was unable to make it because of Iroh being asked to serve tea to the Earth King, and you know what happened after that. Enjoy!
Zuko nervously walked up to where Jin was standing.
"Hi. Um, sorry about the other night. I kind of panicked."
"It's OK, Lee." She looked a bit upset still. Time to say what he'd been practicing all morning, much to Uncle Iroh's mirth.
"I was, uh, wondering, if maybe you'd, um, like to go for a picnic with me on Friday?" After the last um, he had sped up. Great. Now he was going to have to repeat himself. Why was asking a girl out so hard?
Jin's face brightened. "I'd love to! So, where did you plan on taking me?"
Zuko smiled shyly. "There's a place just outside the inner wall. It's on a hill, and you can see all of Ba Sing Se from there. I was going to bring a basket with tea" he laughed "and maybe some sandwiches."
"That sounds great, Lee. Um, when should I show up?"
"I'll wait for you outside the Eastern Gate."
"See you then!" Jin practically sang.
Zuko watched her leave, and then when she was out of sight he punched the air and whispered "Yes!"
He'd actually managed to ask Jin out without making a fool of himself.
