Moonsong--

Here I lie in forbidding sorrow

Pining, wishing for the 'morrow

A night so black, a sky so grey

Not a single light, not a single ray

The birds coo out their evening song

Into the night, which my body does belong

Until I saw that pale light

A quaint and peaceful sort of sight

Over the hill and through the grass

A gentle glow, like smooth stained glass

And there I saw, in all it's splendor

The moon; nightstar; the sun's Pretender

Rise above the stars so high

T'was like viewing God's own eye

And it was all suddenly taken away,

My fear, my anger and my pain

And I thought peace like this would stay,

Until the moon went down again.
