"Prue?" I can't believe it. I get taken from one lover, and brought to another. I know I'm dead. I realize with sadness that this must mean that she's dead, too. I perk up, though, when I also realize that we're dead together.
A grin lights up her face. "Jenny!"
I run towards her and embrace the fellow witch in a hug. Tears burn my eyes. "Oh my god! I missed you!"
"I missed you, too!"
"Why is my death suddenly such a good thing?" I pull back, but grasp her hands. Tears are streaming down my face.
"You're still beautiful." Tears are gathering in her eyes, too.
"So are you!" Finally I have to ask, "What happened to you?"
"Demon Shax's energy ball. You?"
"Vampire broke my neck...Why did you wait for me? Why didn't you go after Andy?"
"I love you more."
We kiss for the first time since college. Funny how being dead still feels so alive.
Our story is, we met and fell in love in college, but then her Grandmother fell ill, so she had to move to San Francisco. Shortly after, I got called by my Gypsy family to find Angel, which brought me to Sunnydale. Prue called me one morning to tell me that she'd met up with Andy, her high school boyfriend. I told her that she could go back to him, if she wanted. I knew it would be too hard to maintain our relationship. She visited me after he'd died, and she was a wreck. I let her stay with me for a few days, but soon her duty took her away. That was alright - by then I had already been smitten with Rupert.
Now...we've found each other again.
When we pulled apart, Prue broke down in tears. It broke my heart. I held her close to me.
"I let my family down!" She sobbed.
"So did I," I hope it helps.
"I'm so glad I have you again! You won't be mad at me!"
"You're sisters won't be, either, sweetheart." I kiss the top of her head gently. "However...everyone on my end was already mad at me."
Prue straightened herself up and wiped her tears, looking me in the eyes. "You've got me, Jen. I'm not mad at you." She reaches out to me and caresses my tears away.
I have to smile. "I never stopped loving you, Prue. I hope you know that."
"I know." She smiles back.
We kiss again, and I hold her tightly.
Suddenly there's an orb of white lights. Whitelighter! We jump apart.
"Leo?" Prue cries out.
"Leo?" I whisper to her, confused.
'Leo' cocks his head to the side. "Lovebirds." He smiles. "Prue, and...Jennifer. I have good news for you both. The Elders would like it very much to have you two on our Whitelighter staff. You both have died doing good, and so you are being rewarded." He smiles again. "And I think there's a way I can get them to allow you to share the same charges."
Prue and I grin.
"Thank you, Leo!" Prue smiles widely. "How's Piper, by the way?"
Leo lowers his voice, "I'm not supposed to talk about them, but...I'm going to be a dad!"
"Congratulations!" We whisper in unison.
Leo hold out his hands to us. "Ladies, if you please...we're going to get you your wings."
We take his hands and orb away.
