"Ugh," the boy groaned. He opened his eyes and looked around.

"Where am I..?" he wondered aloud. The boy had long platinum blond hair. A green, unzipped jacket covered most of his plain black undershirt. He wore long black sweat pants with a Pokemon belt. Tall and skinny, he looked around the age of fourteen. He sat up and glanced around, taking in his surroundings. The grass felt cool under him, and he slowly rose to his feet.

He stumbled in a westward direction, noticing a tall, white building in the distance.

"Well, I guess I should ask someone where I am," he said. He approached the door of the building and knocked.

"Coming," a voice shouted. The door slowly creaked open, and an old man with short white hair emerged.

"Oh, are you getting your first Pokemon today?" the man asked politely.

"Pokemon?" the teen asked, confused.

"You don't know what a Pokemon is?" the old man asked, surprised. He wore a long, white lab coat with a plain red shirt underneath.
He had long, green sweat pants with a similar belt to the teen's.

"And by the way, what's your name?" the man inquired.

"oh.. hmm... let me try to remember...," the teen said.

"You don't even know your own name?" the old man exclaimed, concerned.

"Let me tell you the whole story," the teen explained. They entered the living room and sat on the couch. The teen told the man what had happened in the last few minutes.

"And then I met you," he concluded.

"How odd, not knowing who you are or how you got there," the man murmured. "Oh, I never introduced myself. My name is Samuel Oak, and this is my laboratory."

"Oh! I think I remember my name," the teen exclaimed.

"And that would be?" the professor asked curiously.

"Makuson, my name is Makuson," Makuson said joyfully.

"Well that's not a normal name where I come from," Oak responded.

"Yeah, well Oak isn't exactly normal where I come from either," Makuson retorted.

"And.. where do you come from?" the professor asked.

"No idea," Makuson answered. Professor Oak laughed at this comment.

"So Makuson, would you like me to teach you about the world of Pokemon?" Oak asked.

"I guess so," Makuson answered.

"Pokemon are mysterious creatures that live with us in this world. Each one has its own special powers and techniques. Right now we have only discovered One hundred fifty Pokemon. But there are many more yet to be discovered. If you're a trainer in Pallet Town at the age of ten, you get your first Pokemon. You have a choice between three Pokemon: Squirtle, the water Pokemon; Charmander, the fire Pokemon; and Bulbasaur, the grass Pokemon. Each type of Pokemon possesses its own special advantages when it comes into battle with other Pokemon. For example: Fire types are strong against grass types, Grass types are strong against water types, and water types are strong against fire types," Oak stated.

"Usually I only allow trainers from Pallet to choose a Pokemon from my lab, but for some strange reason, I trust you." Oak said thoughtfully.

"Does that mean I can have a Pokemon?" Makuson asked eagerly.

"Yes, choose wisely," replied the professor.

"I choose.. the water Pokemon, Squirtle!" Makuson shouted.

"Very well. This is your Pokemon," Oak said, pointing to a Pokeball sitting on the table.

"Well, I expected maybe a blue Pokemon, but this ball will do just fine!" Makuson stammered. Professor Oak sighed.

"Makuson, the Pokemon is IN the Pokeball," Oak explained. The Professor lifted up the Pokeball and threw it in the air.

"Go Squirtle!" Oak yelled. A red light appeared from within the ball. As it began to vanish, a blue, turtle-shaped Pokemon appeared. It was Squirtle!

"Oh, so that's what a squirtle looks like," Makuson whispered. Squirtle smiled at Makuson, happily accepting his new trainer.

"Hey Squirtle," Makuson greeted his new friend. After the introductions, Oak returned the Squirtle to its Pokeball.

"Squirtle Squirt!" Squirtle said happily. After a few minutes of Professor Oak teaching Makuson how to use a Pokeball, He gave Makuson a Pokedex and six Pokeballs, including the one belonging to Squirtle.

"Use this device to record Pokemon data. Each time you see a new Pokemon, examine it and I will get the information sent to my Lab," Oak explained.

"To catch a Pokemon, you must weaken it first, then throw the Pokeball at it, and if it's weak enough, you will catch it," Oak said. After a few more minutes of Professor Oak teaching Makuson about Gyms and the Indigo Plateau, Makuson decided to begin his journey.

"Thanks again, Professor Oak, I will get going now." Makuson turned to make his departure.

"Good luck on your journey!" Prof. Oak exclaimed.

"Hmm, so I guess the first place I should go is Pewter City," Makuson declared.

"Oh, maybe I should also get to know my Squirtle!" Makuson said in happiness.

"Go Squirtle!" Makuson shouted. He threw the Pokeball into the air, and a red light began to appear.
