A/N: A short something that was begging me to write. Just a short drabble on Kaiba's thoughts on Yami Yugi's red eyes. Probably takes place later in the series, although it could be chronologically placed almost anywhere.
Even after years of dueling him and running into him and his geek squad, I still found myself slightly unnerved by those eyes.
In the middle of battle those crimson eyes would stare me down. It's not normal to see someone with red irises, let alone someone whose color changed between soft amethyst and blazing flame. Part of me dismissed it as contact lenses coupled with a personality disorder (although sometimes he'd be standing right in front of me when it happened, leaving little chance for putting in contacts), but try as I might, sometimes I got the feeling that something bigger was involved. However I'd soon rebuke myself and continue the duel, my determination to win blocking out these distracting thoughts.
But somewhere, deep in the back of my mind, I would always be haunted by those eyes, those unnerving, burning circles of flame.
