One last look, that's all he wanted. The law office seemed more like a grave yard than anything else now. The Place he had basically been calling home for so long was suddenly ripped out from underneath him. Just weeks ago he sat at the very desk that stood in front of him, working away at some case his mentor was working on. He half-heartedly laughed when he spotted the desk still had his name plate displayed on it. He ran his figures across the copper surface that read in nice clear letter "Apollo Justice".
Two weeks ago this place was full of life. The Gavin and Co. Law offices was the most sought after defence in the city, with good reason too. Kristoph Gavin was extremely good at what he did, yet seemed to always keep a cool and calm disposition about him. He never was one to brag, and Apollo respected him for that. Sure, the "Legendary" Phoenix Wright was what initially inspired the young attorney to become a lawyer, but looking at the man now left something to be desired in Apollo's eyes. Also, Kristoph had been there for him. Kristoph had talked to him, had put a hand of his shoulder and told him 'good job'. Phoenix had only been a distant mirage, something to chase but never find. Mr. Gavin, he felt like a father who was always there to give Apollo support. That thought only made Apollo feel more retched at what had conspired that fateful day.
Walking around the small room he wandered into the back of the office, where Kristoph had his own little section. All the books were gone off of the many bookshelves. The red suited lawyer could only assume his mentor took them with him. It made the office look horridly empty. Apollo frowned at the shelf and let out a yell of frustration as he slammed his fist into the side. He stood silent for a minute, his fist planted in the side of the book shelf. "Take that." He muttered, recalling what Mr. Wright had told him after his first trial.
That one trial, ruined everything. It ruined the job he had and it ruined the opinion he held of both Phoenix Wright and Kristoph Gavin. The man who was the great defence attorney of seven years ago no longer existed. Sure, Apollo had to admit he was impressed with Phoenix's ability to find the truth in that case, and Apollo was sure he wouldn't have found it without him. However, it resulted in Apollo using forged evidence in his first trial. That alone was infuriating.
Although that in itself was quite distressing for his morals, nothing was quite as shocking to the attorney as finding out who the true criminal of the crime was, none other than Mr. Gavin himself. Apollo felt outraged at the idea at first. Now he simply felt betrayed. He trusted someone and now they turn out to be a killer and a liar. His heart retched at the thought of it and his stomach wound itself into knots.
In this very room Apollo had spent many hours conversing with his now imprisoned mentor. He couldn't help but wonder if all those hours were meaningless to the older blond lawyer. Was the friendly smile and care filled words simply a mask worn to keep the truth hidden. Did it all mean nothing?
He thought he finally found a place to call home. Yet now it seemed to crumble and decay faster than it had been set up. Was Apollo simply a plastic doll to Kristoph's eyes? Was he just something to play with and throw away when the man got bored? The young attorney had been too afraid to even see Kristopher now. He was afraid of asking these questions. He was afraid of receiving the answers he had thought of in his head. His whole life he and been cast aside when he seemed unnecessary. Why should now be any different?
Biting his lip Apollo exited the Gavin and co. Law offices. No more pretending and no more lies, he thought to himself. Apollo was sick of it all. "Goodbye." He said to the empty and silent office before exiting the office for the final time.
