Fall

Summary: Team 7 is falling.

I don't own Naruto.

Apart of a drabble/story series I'm working on, but I feel like posting it as a one-shot.

It's only fall until it's winter. That's when you prepare to die.

The massive trees swayed to the relentless pounding of the wind, leaves falling in swirls of yellow, red, and just plain autumn—and Sakura can't help but think thatthe trees are crying for her, for Naruto, for everyone because, because—

Rapidly wiping at her eyes, she scrubbed the green emeralds with her fists, stopping only when she was sure a light pink rimmed her eyes, and the pain was too much to start crying once more.

But her shoulders still shook, trying to release the sorrow she felt inside of her, and her hair weaved through with shaking, quivering fingers, clenching the pink locks in painful little intervals, only stopping when the torment became too much, but the pain was still there, wallowing inside her soul, growing, feeding, festering… 'Parasite!' she would've yelled, would've screamed, would've shrieked until the pain finally worked it's way up to her throat… but she can't, because the pain is a part of her, the anguish is weaved into every corner of her being—Sakura doesn't want to be a parasite, she doesn't want to be a host.

Sakura doesn't want to die, so Sakura isn't crying. Never ever, not in a million years.

The pink-haired girl stopped weeping when a blond walked to the edge of the clearing.

"It's okay to cry, Sakura-chan," The boy blankly said, emotion nonexistent in his voice as it echoed throughout the clearing, hypocritically holding back his own tears. "Fall only happens once in a while," he whispered to the girl, leaves crunching beneath his feet as he walked over to the other shinobi before sitting down.

Everything after that went fuzzy, a random jumbling of thoughts that ran together in no sequence or order, but they both knew that one of them started humming a morbid, joyful song, and the other filled the empty melody with a familiar tune—one that had them both grieving, both crying.

We've fallen into the dark, flaming abyss called hell. Don't worry; you'll never catch a cold.

"Ring around the rosie!" The two chanted, tears pouring down their face tasting bitter and disgusting on their singing tongues, leaves swirling around them in dance.

"Basket full of posies!" The blond sung, collapsing on himself as he viciously tried to grab for someone who simply wasn't there, instead choosing to watch his hands clench and loosen themselves, blood dripping down broken nails when the skin couldn't take any more abuse, "Ashes, ashes," the other continued, seemingly oblivious to the boy as she skipped around the field, kunai in hand, "And we all fall down!" They both harshly whispered, watching the weapon pierce a picture and it's frame, and, weeping, Sakura continued to watch the trees cry their precious leaves for them, this time with a fellow mourner.

"Sakura and Naruto are falling…Sasuke already fell."

Get your ex's life-sized superman and power ranger, then throw them off a cliff. Watch him go after it and fall, dying on a multitude of spikes. I'm afraid that that is the only fun you can have with falling.
