Nimbasa.
Stadium lights glow and neon signs flash.
The city is loud as sports fans, performers, and passersby crowd onto the streets.
It's been two years…
I sit on the edge of the fountain. Sunlight sparkles on the flowing water.
I glance up at the giant structure before me: the ferris wheel, an engineering wonder in the city of Nimbasa. It's held up for years. Even now, I could go take a ride in those pokeball-shaped cars.
The thought is tempting. I quickly stand and make my way to the attraction. There's a long line, but I tell myself I can wait. Although even if I ride again, I try to tell myself, there's no chance I'll ride with her again.
It seems every time I step into the amusement park, I have the urge to ride the ferris wheel. I understand why. If only I could ride it again with…that girl…not the new girl.
The new girl reminds me of her. Brown hair, big, radiant eyes, and a lively personality. The closest I might ever get to those memories.
Wonderful memories.
I sigh as I approach the ride. For a moment I think I'll have to ride alone. But then–
I see her; she's running toward me. "N!" she calls. The next thing I know, I'm trapped in her passionate embrace. Joy floods my heart. "Touko," I whisper, wrapping my arms around her.
The ferris wheel turns. We've missed our chance to ride, but that's okay. "N," she says softly. "Don't you ever, ever leave me like that again."
"I promise," I say, hugging her even tighter. "I promise."
