How long had it been now? Months? Years, maybe? The demon blood hadn't risen in me for that long? How long had it been since I felt the thrill of blood pouring from a cold body? I bit my thumb letting my fangs pierce it. I allowed a bit of blood to flow and left a thick line of the copper liquid on the man's forehead as he took his final breath. My name is Dezmond, and I'm the last of the line of "creatures" the humans call vampyres. I am the only one of us that can control myself. The only one that can trap my demon into a human body. The humans have hunted us for thousands of years unsuccessful in their endeavor to kill all of us. Only I am the survivor of their slaughtering, they haven't found the last demon in the world.
Chapter 1.) Rise of the Demon King
"Fae?" I said the name, not really recognizing the odd bloodlust this unusual name brought to me.
Who could have sent that note? Surely not her, she hadn't even known who I was until days ago. Could it have been Jace? Not the same. Who then?
"Dez?" she skipped up to me.
"Hi Mei!" my heart was pounding I could almost hear the blood rushing in my mind. She drove me insane and she knew it. I swallowed in a daze.
"So, I was wondering?" she said twirling a lock of her black as night hair between her dainty fingers.
"Whatever it is, yes!" I blurted out.
"So you will tell Jace I love him?" She smiled her adorable toothy grin and cached away, leaving me alone in the halls of the library, blood boiling, begging to let the demon out.
(Quiet yourself Yari!)
You know you're dying to let me out Dezmond! Just do it already! You won't even know the difference!
(Yari! That's enough! Now quiet yourself!)
As he pushed to let himself free, I let my canine teeth elongate and pierce my bottom lip.
I sat near Jace's locker head between my knees praying that he got here before Yari let himself take over.
"Hey buddy!" Jace patted my back only moments after that, "What are you doing over here Dez?"
"Hmm?" I mumbled still biting my lip.
"I asked what you are doing?" he put his hand on his hip and glowered at me.
"Oh, Mei asked me to tell you something, but I kinda forgot what it is." I chuckled and ran off pissed.
"Dez? Dez!" Jace tried to run after me but I poured on the speed.
Can I come out now Dezmond? Or are you going to make me push my way out? Yari snickered and let me know he was serious by tugging at my mind.
(Damn it Yari! I told you not today!)
But I'm so hungry! Just one? Then I will be done for now! You know I can do it!
"Fine! But only one okay?" I said aloud.
Yari's first signs of release showed as my fingernails grew to deadly talons and my humanoid ears stretched to a point. Then the wings grew, huge and dark as the night itself, they spanned to their full length of fifteen feet across. The last sign showed itself with horrifying glory as my body shifted and grew to an inhuman size while somehow still staying somewhat human. The canine teeth that humans had grew and turned to the dangerous demon fangs that had often appeared when I went demonic.
No one knew about this but Jace and with me not being in the best of moods I had not told him the full extent of my power. Not even my only friend that I trusted with my life!
Where had I run off to? I knew that I had to get out of there before I hurt my only friend that I had anymore. I know I can seal Yari inside me but it can be a burden on this body. I have already had to stake claim in the next body I will take. And I had talked it over with him and I am almost positive he will be fine with the ritual. The claim ritual I guess is a very painful soul push. He will no longer be in use of his body. Jace had already signed his life away to the king of all demons... his life was forever in my hands now.
