You're Dead

"They're about to cut the line!" Ty Lee shouted from aloft.

Blood rushed to Azula's head in anger and panic. How dare they! She understood the importance of sustaining the Boiling Rock's record of zero successful escapes, but the imbeciles had gone too far in this attempt at prevention.

Her eyes scanned the surroundings and locked onto the second gondola speeding towards them along the parallel cable. "Then it's time to leave," she said appreciatively.

How perfect. A way to off Zuko and make sure her smirking face was one of the last things he would see. She jettisoned from the roof of one gondola to the other, Ty Lee following with a flip. A laugh simmered in her tone as she said, "Goodbye, Zuko."

The way he and his friends just stared agape at her exit proved how stupid they really were. Smarter people would've left the ill-fated gondola too and taken their chances with herself and Ty Lee back to the prison.

Azula spared a glance to Mai's uncle inside the cable-car. How nice that he was willing to sacrifice himself for this; saved her the trouble of executing him. Her head whipped to the guards beginning to saw through the line below. They, on the other hand, would suffer her wrath.

It should be common sense if you're going to ruin an escape attempt, make sure a favored member of the Royal Family won't die alongside the convicts. Oh yes, the warden and his idiot employees down there were all dead!

AN: And then Mai comes along and focuses all of Azula's wrath on her. Mai's a hero! Even if Azula had died, Ozai would've executed the entire prison staff for being responsible. Seriously, what was the warden thinking with that "cut the line" idea? All I can think of is that the other gondola was sent that way specifically for Azula to escape death, but it must've been some brilliant soldier on the other end that thought of it 'cause the warden never said a word.
