Addicus the Barbarian

It isn't always easy, living the life of a warrior. People are always trying to stop you from hurting other people, and if they deem you to be a savage, they'll stop at nothing to make sure you don't live to see another day.

The Bird Nation thought they could do that to me, but they were wrong. A savage always has friends in low places, at least in my case. Those Birds called me a savage beast, a barbarian, and so do so many others of the Animals on Third Earth. And I am. I am proud of it.

I have a natural thirst for battle and killing. I like the way my enemies are crushed by me when I have a victory. And the smell of their blood is intoxicating. People always think that Apes and Monkeys are vegetarians and/or fruitarians. That is not always true. I eat enough fruits to stay healthy, but my victims in battle are so much more refreshing to chow down on. Fresh meat is so sweet, and I'll eat any Animal that pisses me off.

After all, that's what Animals are, is it not? A source of protein and nourishment for other Animals, and for humans? And we Animals are humanoids, too. Many people, allies and enemies alike, have the nerve to say that I'm a cannibal, what with the way I ate those delicious Birds that almost had me executed. But humans eat Birds all the time, especially Chickens, Turkeys, Ducks, and other forms of Gamebirds and Waterfowl. In fact, most Animals are low enough on the food chain to be eaten by somebody or something.

To me, there are more creatures that deserve life than most would assume about me when they see me in action. But they are creatures with the guts to live off of what they can get for themselves, not wimpy ones that expect others to do it for them. As crazy as Kaynar is, I respect him because he fights to survive viciously in a harsh world. Most "righteous" people think that the so-called evil ones have no sense of ethics or virtue. But I have my own virtues, all right, and I've perceived that Slithe, Kaynar, and our newest addition to Mumm-Ra's generals, Vultaire, have them, as well. My favorite virtue is Precision. True, strength is my most obvious talent, but it pays to fight for control of your foe with the diligence of a barbarian, and you will hit him, or her, precisely where you want to. With Precision, nobody can escape my diligent rage, nor will they be in control of their own destiny any more.

It is with Precision, as well as other virtues I consider to be less important to me, that I see the tunnel of light through the darkness that covers Third Earth in Lord Mumm-Ra's presence. Third Earth will be a place of Order once he covers the nation's in a second darkness and makes his pyramid the light of the world. And an Ape without Precision or Order is not an Ape.
