What is This Harry Potter Fandom?
Summary: It's just another sorting day, and another little innocent eleven-year-old girl tries on the hat. But the hat is shocked to see what's in her mind. He realizes the wizarding world isn't nearly as hidden as the ministry thinks…
AN: My first fanfic, so it might not be very good. And it doesn't make a lot of sense as to why he hasn't come across Harry Potter before. Sorry. Feel free to flame.
Disclaimer: I own nothing whatsoever. Apart from Freya, and she isn't really even a character.
The sorting hat liked his job. He'd been upset when he had first been removed from Gryffindors hat and told he had to rack through the brains of children for all eternity, but it proved quite interesting. He had seen some strange thing in his time, all eccentricities of the muggle world were known to the hat from the students he had sorted. But nothing could have quite prepared him for this.
"Freya Russell" called out Professor McGonagall and a young girl stepped forwards and walked up to the sorting hat.
The sorting hat searched her mind, she was a muggle born and liked books particularly a series called Harry Potter, that was interesting, just like the hero of the war against Voldemort, the books were about… a war against Voldemort. That had to be a coincidence. A war against a dark wizard called Voldemort at a school called Hogwarts. The hat was panicking now: this was almost true. He scanned Freya's mind for more information… it was all so accurate, so realistic. There was more, a musical on the subject and films (films were muggle entertainment, a cross between pictures and radios.) and even a puppet show.
How could she know this? How could she know everything? Were there others who knew? Of course there were, millions of them! The Sorting Hat had no idea what to do… should he tell someone?
What The Sorting Hat didn't realize was that he had already been on the head of Freya Russell for over an hour. And would stay for a few more.
Poor girl.
