Darkness had settled like a thick blanket over Lima, cloaking it in the quiet hush that is night. The swings at the playground were deserted, swaying gently in a summer breeze.

He took all this in as he walked past the place where he used to play so frequently, his shoes scuffing along in the dirt. To anyone watching him he would seem strange, and lonely walking by himself down the dimly lit street. What they didn't know however was that he was waiting for someone. He stopped at the designated park bench and sat down, closing his eyes and letting his head fall back so he could have been stargazing.

She walked silently towards him, her tread light. His lips quirked into a smile as her hand came to rest on his head, running her fingers lightly through his mohawk. Her hand trailed down until it was cupping his cheek; she leaned down, brushing her lips gently against his. He brought his arms up around her small waist, pulling her down until she was seated on his lap, her toes barely brushing the ground. She laid her head on his shoulder and played with the collar of his shirt while he buried his nose in her blond hair.

As he laced their fingers together, breathing her sweet scent, he knew that nothing else mattered. All of his insecurities, or her fears, were minuscule in the face of what they had. It didn't even matter that much if they got Beth back. As long as he had her to help him and believe in him, it would all be okay.
