A nest of arms nurse the nauseated adolescent
Who composes a well-known symphony of tears and nose blowing
Over injustices committed.

Her crayons were abducted by devious classmates
Shady characters with dubious intentions
The box she promised to never mislay.

Her absent teddy bear
Who squats on the park bench
Unintentionally abandoned
She devotes a few specialized blubbers to his memory.

Yes, she has witnessed the loss of much at such a budding age
Things before her time.
Things she should have never lived to see.

The worse has yet to come, but who would believe such a thing
Knee deep in a Sunday afternoon?

Her parents hum as they bounce the girl on their knees
And promise her that they'll never leave.
She takes alleviation in these spoken promises.

At what point, Mami contemplates
No longer leaving comfort in a parental guidance
But in the crackled sound of gunfire
That peppers a familiar barren mirage, "trio finale",
Did her position in life become that of the teddy bear's?

AN) I hope I correctly captured Mami's attitude in this one. If anyone could tell me if there is an element I am missing in this poem, I would appreciate it.
