Gaara sniffed the air, frowning as the smell of sulphur reached his nose. The people in Konoha, where he just came from, had been talking about a storm. Apparently it had reached his homeland before he did. It hardly ever rained in Wind Country, but they had thunder storms that could last for hours and hours. It was too bad he'd missed this one. He liked the thunder.

Itachi gazed absent mindedly through the window. There were big clouds assembling at the horizon, no doubt carrying massive amounts of rain. He wondered if Kisame would make it back before it broke out. There was a movement next to him and he turned his head slightly to look at Deidara's sleeping form. It was funny how he'd always thought a single bed would be way too small for two people.

Iruka shook his head lightly. His mind was drifting. He had been chopping vegetables, but somehow the knife had stopped moving and he'd found himself staring out the window. It looked like a storm was coming. He wondered if it would rain in Lightning Country.

Sai stepped out from behind the tree where he'd been hiding. He'd been watching this boy train for hours now.

"It'll rain soon," he said. "You'll catch a cold if you train in the rain."

The boy looked up at him, surprised, and then tilted his head to look at the leaden sky.

"You're right. But there's nothing as refreshing and youthful as sparring in the rain. Would you join me?"

---

Kisame looked up at the heavy, grey clouds. Hopefully he'd make it back before the raining started. He'd been gone for almost a week and he didn't like leaving Itachi by himself for such a long time. It wasn't that his partner couldn't look after himself, but Kisame was always worried that the lad would feel lonely when he wasn't around.

Yamato sighed as the first fat drop of rain landed on his head. He had tried for the last hour to persuade his team to seek cover, and now it was too late. They were all going to get soaked.

'Well', he thought as he stopped and clapped his hands together, 'I'm the captain, if I say we stop, then we stop.'

"Yamato-taichou, what are you doing?"

"Building a shelter."

Naruto scowled at him as logs grew out of the ground, weaving into each other and forming a house.

"We're never going to find Sasuke if we keep stopping for shitty things like a little rain!"

Yamato just shook his head. When would this boy realize that not every mission was about Sasuke?

Kakashi stared at the gray veil of rain that was covering the rocky coastline of Lightning Country, trying to penetrate it with his normal eye. He was glad that he'd been alone on this mission. Anyone else would probably want to stay and rest somewhere until the raining stopped. But Kakashi just wanted to get home.
