It was rare that Jaden ever had time alone, so today, as he walked to the rooftop, was an odd change. The moment didn't last though because when he reached his destination, he realized a familiar blunette was already lying on the roof. Jaden approached him and quickly realized his friend had his eyes shut and appeared rather peaceful.
In other words, he was asleep. And rather cute. Jaden added mentally. He shook his head as if to shake away the ridiculous thought. Jesse was just his friend. His funny, kind, attractive best friend…
He sat down beside him and looked up at the sky before glancing back at Jesse. The temptation was growing so great that he…poked the blunette's forehead. But he didn't stir.
"Jess, wake up, Jess." Still nothing.
He shook him slightly. "Yoo-hoo, Jesse?" Yet again, no response.
Will nothing wake him up? He wondered. Jesse cooed but made no movements.
Jaden couldn't resist it anymore! He leaned over, less than inch between his and Jesse's lips. Of course this would be the time Jesse chose to wake up.
"Uh, Ja-Jaden?" he stammered in his Southern drawl.
Jaden jumped backwards, red faced. "Um, er…Hi, Jess."
"What were you doing?" he asked slowly with a burning face as well.
"Uh… Ya know…sitting?"
"Why were you…so close…?"
"Oh look at the time I have to go!" Jaden blurted out quickly, but before he could run, his friend grabbed his sleeve.
"May you answer my question, Jay?" He batted his green eyes cutely.
"Um…" He couldn't say no to a face like that! "I was…" He couldn't really lie to him either. "I was…waiting for you to wake up…"
"That's what you call that?"
"Yes…"
"Don't ya think you were a bit…close?"
"I suppose," he answered as if he didn't notice.
An awkward pause of about five minutes passed before Jesse asked, "Is there something you should be telling me Jaden?"
"What? No! Of course not!" He waved his hands back and forth frantically.
"You sure?" The blunette duelist raised an eyebrow, not at all convinced.
"Yes! Never been surer about anything in my life!"
Jesse shrugged his shoulders and said, "Well okay. I guess I'll be going then." As he walked past Jaden, he gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. "See you later, Jay." With that, he left.
"Wh-what just happened!" Jaden stammered to himself, face redder than his jacket.
