Rose Petals - Ladybug Fanfic

Today had been a long day. I couldn't wait to lay back in bed and go to sleep. The team had been out training the whole day and we were all exhausted. We had just eaten supper and we finally got back to our room for the night. As per usual, Ruby asked me if we could read that night, while Yang and Weiss slept. Of course I say yes, I always do. She such a bundle of joy, I love reading with her. I love my whole team for accepting me for who I am, but something about Ruby... I don't know exactly. She accepted me right from the beginning, without a second thought. I think I'm falling for her... Regardless, we finish reading a chapter of a book (we were so tired from training that's all we could manage to stay up for) and we head to bed.

I hear shouts while I sleep. It doesn't wake me up at first, but I hear another one, louder than I'd ever heard someone shout before... It was my name... The person shouting... Was Ruby. I get up and survey what's happening. Yang and Weiss aren't there anymore. Where did they go? I see Ruby getting carried off by some creature. I can't make it out, but I can see a Ruby struggling. It leaves through the window with her and I give chase. We end up in the courtyard. As I look at the creature, still unable to make out just what it is, it turns to me. It holds Ruby in its hands and without a second thought... Stabs right through her chest... Before I can think I rush towards the creature, luckily I had Gambol Shroud with me. But wait why did I even have it? It should be in my locker... Either way I fight the creature... Only to realize... That creature... Is... Me...

How is this possible? Why would I do such a thing? The other me disappeared into the darkness. It made sense now... Ruby wasn't screaming for my help... Was scared of me... Wanted me to stop what I was doing... I kneel by her corpse... I just stare at her lifeless body... I notice that rose petals are falling around us... That her blood is actually... Rose... Petals?

I'm crying and can't stop... But in between sobs I notice that she rises from the rose petals... Sitting up... I'm in shear amazement. She looks my way and smiles.

"You really do care Blake." She says to me as she puts her arms around me.

"R-Ruby... But I thought..." I find it hard to form words. Just what is going on?

"Shhh... Just calm down..." She still has her arms around me.

I put my arms around her as well and hold her as tight as I can...

"Hey Blake it's time for breakfast! Get up lazy bones!" Yang shouts, waking me from my sleep.

"Huh? Wait where's Ruby?!" I shout, my mind still not fixated on reality yet.

"I'm right h- B-Blake?!" Ruby begins to tell me where she is but I interrupt her with a huge hug. I start to cry.

"Please don't ever leave me Ruby..."

"B-Blake..."

I snuggle my head further into her chest. It's very warm. I hear her heart beating, it's very fast.

"C'mon... Let's get to breakfast and tell me what this is about." She pushes me away slightly to see my face. I probably look like a wreck. But then...

"And I won't."

Confused I say:

"You won't what?"

"I won't leave you silly."

I start to smile but then... She kisses me...

"T-thank you Ruby... For always being here for me... I don't know what I'd do without you... I know I said that unfortunately the real world isn't the same as a fairy tale... But you make me feel like I'm in one. You're always so kind to me and you've supported me immediately even when I told you guys of my true origin..."

"Well of course I did... I mean you were there for me since the first day. I really like hanging out with you, and you're a wonderful person Blake."

I don't know what to say. The only thing that comes out of my mouth is...

"Ruby... I... I love you"

I give her the biggest hug I can, for she is the reason I fight on, despite all of my inner demons.
