Alright, so this is my first story on here! I already have a super long characters list to get through, but if anyone has some characters they`d like me to add, I`ll be happy to check them out. Anyways, I hope you enjoy! The more reviews or favourites this gets, the faster I`ll update it, since it`ll get a higher priority (: Other than that, thanks for taking a look!
Shelter. Shelter.
The one word rung through Icekit's ears, their normally soft brown colour had been drained to a pale, almost white, pink. Her tiny paws were sore and stained with small ringlets of red as she scrambled over a fallen log, wincing as another splinter scrapped up against the pad of her front paw. The darkness made it difficult to see, the moon had long since been covered with rolling clouds and concealed fallen debris and other dangers easily. The small she-kit gave a huff, past the state of crying, and sat down with a thud. The chill of the snow began to make it's way up her spine at a faster rate but she ignored it as she lifted her paw to her face to inspect it. Her vibrant blue gaze swept over it as she pinpointed the small sliver of wood embedded in her paw. Her lip began to tremble slightly as she grabbed the wood in between her teeth and gave it a sharp tug out, bringing a fresh splash of red along with it. At the sight of the blood, Icekit gave a wail of despair as she spat the splinter off to the side. She was filled with a sense of anger, pain and desperation all at once. Anger at the two-legs for snatching away her warm home, pain for the loss of her family and her desperation to find shelter before she froze to death. She had been walking for two days straight, too small and young to hunt and her stomach growled consistently. Flattening her ears, she gave a final sniff and began to get to her paws, pain shooting up her weary legs. She knew she should find a place to rest, but the area was unknown to her and she hadn't the slightest clue on how to make a warm nest. Icekit limped forward a few paces, her gaze blurring as she huffed to breathe. Without warning, her legs gave out from under her, causing her to fall hard onto her side. Gritting her teeth against the sharp impact with the frozen ground she looked down to her toes as she attempted to give them a wiggle. The sharp string of loss of blood flow to her limbs made her mind run into a frenzy but her face remained blank, her exhaustion making it too difficult to react. Giving her surroundings one last look she rested her head back down onto the snow covered forest floor. Her eyes pointed absently ahead of her, the edges of her vision blurring as her breathing slowed. She knew she should get up, but she couldn't muster up the energy.
What was I thinking, I haven't ever even...left the barn. How did I expect to survive out here...I should have let the...two-legs take me...too.
Her thoughts came slower and slower, until her delicate eyelids fluttered to a close, her creamy pelt blending into the snow covered terrain seamlessly.
