The Lonely Jogger

I never did a tribute to Savitar, so this is my belated salute to the god of speed. Love you man! However, there is no sadness or angst to be found here. Savitar had a whole speech prepared. It helped that he knew exactly what Barry would say. However, his speech was interrupted by something unexpected.

Savitar smiled cruelly at Barry. "It's like looking into a mirror." He paused and gestured to the right side of his face before continuing. "Well, almost."

Barry searched for something, anything, to say and finally settled on, "You're not so scary without your armour on."

Savitar shrugged. "What can I say? I outgrew red."

"I know what you are," Barry said out of desperation. "You're a time remnant."

"A temporal duplicate," Savitar agreed, "created when you run back in time and meet yourself. You brought a time remnant to life last year to defeat Zoom. Your remnant died saving the multi-" Savitar broke off as footsteps pounded down the dark asphalt. "Was that you?" he asked Barry.

Barry shook his head no, just as confused as Savitar was. Well, probably more confused, as he was still trying to take in the fact that he was Savitar. Or at least, a version of him was.

A few seconds later, a jogger came around the corner.

It was a young woman dressed in sweatpants and a shirt with the Flash emblem on it. The woman had her headphones in and her head down. She muttered to herself through her labored breath, "Come on, girl! You can do it. The Flash believes in you!"

Barry and Savitar watched the woman approach them with identical expressions. Well, almost identical because of Savitar's...you know.

Finally, the woman looked up and took in the sight of her city's hero standing unmasked in the middle of the street with a guy who looked almost exactly like him dressed all in black standing next to some kind of metal statue.

Her earbuds fell out and her mouth gaped. "What the-?"

"Get out of here!" Barry commanded. "It's not safe!"

The woman just blinked at him, eyes wide. "But...you're t-the F-flash!"

"Yes," Barry confirmed. "And you need to get out of here now."

"Leave," Savitar snarled, but the woman stayed.

"But he looks like you!"

"I am aware," Barry responded. "Now please leave. Run!"

The woman finally turned around and ran back in the direction she came from.

Savitar smiled evilly again. "Let's try that again, shall we?"
