We've been fighting in this accursed fortress all night long, and the Uruk-Hai have forced us back into the keep. The King informed me that this place was invincible, that it had no weaknesses. He was wrong
The Uruks found a small drain at the base of the outer wall. They used that to destroy the entire wall. We nearly stopped them, but not in time. From there, things just got worse, until, well, here we are.
Now the King is ready to give up. He says there is no hope for Rohan, or even the entire race of men. He says Middle-Earth will fall.
The sun begins to rise. As it does so, I recall the Wizard's words, "Look to my coming at first light on the fifth day. At dawn look to the East." As I turn to the window, more words come back to me. They are what I told the young soldier before the battle. "There is always hope." I turn to the King, and the soldiers barring the door. "Ride out with me," I say to them.
We saddle our war mounts, and prepare to ride out. The door is failing obviously, despite the soldier's efforts. The King begins to speak. "Let this be the hour when we draw swords together. Fell deeds awake. Now for wrath. Now for ruin. And the red dawn!"
Now I am riding out with the king, and the last remnants of the soldiers. From atop our horses, we have a great advantage over the Uruks. I stop, and look to the east. There is Gandalf. Just where he promised. Behind him comes Eomer, and nearly five hundred Calvary behind him. They charge down the hill; the Uruks brace themselves to be hit with the wave of horsemen. Then, I hear the King.
"Victory! We have Victory!"
