Just something I came up with when I was watching some West Wing. Hope you like, sorry it is so short but I ran out of things to write. Please review.
People must wonder about us. Strangers and passing acquaintances watching us from afar. They see me, a leggy pale blonde relaxed and smiling and him a curly- brown haired Jewish guy always wound tight.
They see a man who walks fast down corridors like his life depends on it and the woman who learnt to keep up but is always one step behind.
They see a man who shouts out and orders people around not caring about bursting people's eardrums and the woman patiently telling him to be quiet, telling him to eat his salad and then ring his mom.
They must wonder how two very different people met. What were his first impressions of her? How did she convince him she was the right person for the job? The wonder how we are still friends and how we still have things to talk about.
They must watch us and wonder how we know what the other is thinking from a look, know what the other wants and feels and needs.
They must marvel at how we spend the whole day together without killing each other, and then go out for a beer afterwards.
Nurses must have wondered who the woman was, sitting at the politician's bedside for two months and who the man was travelling halfway across the globe to be beside some woman's bed.
His neighbours must have wondered who the woman letting herself into his apartment at all hours of the day and night was.
They must have watched us talk and wondered what he said to make her laugh or slap him playfully.
They wonder how he knew to get extra fries so she could take some and wonder how he knows she wants a sip of his beer when he's not even looking at her.
They must wonder how she keeps him organised even when his office looks like a pigsty.
At Christmas, they must wonder how she knows he needs help before he does.
They don't understand how we follow each other's train of thought, they can't keep up with our banter.
They wonder who this woman is when he won't stop talking about her in a budget meeting.
They don't understand how he'll be too busy to meet with an important senator but will drop everything for her, do anything to protect her.
They wonder how long it'll be before we're together.
