To Worship You
A/N: This is dedicated to a certain redhead who keeps distracting me from my studies. *sigh* If only she knew. *blush*
Disclaimer: I do not own any characters or places. Rowling or Warner Bros. does.
It was two weeks before school and I was spending them at the Burrow. With Ron, and Harry, and Ginny, oh yes Ginny. I couldn't help myself. I had seen her become so great in the past year, I always knew, of course, but I never really knew. I never looked and when I did, she was no longer that shy and tortured first year that would start shaking uncontrollably sometimes. And you knew she was remembering. You knew she was down there in the dark wet tunnels with the memory of evil stealing away your life.
Now she was different. She had grown up, right before my eyes. She didn't shake anymore, but sometimes she would get a hard look in her eyes. I would speak her name and she would look at me and smile, but it was always a sad, sad smile.
I was watching her from the Weasley's back porch. It was the middle of the day and the sun was at its brightest. I hated how bright the sun was. I could barley keep my eyes open, even in the shade. I think it comes from reading books in the dark all my life. Ginny loves the sun. She's playing football (soccer) with Ron and Harry. They are laughing at Ginny because she keeps tripping over the ball. Harry is teaching them how to play. It's a muggle sport and they can't quite get used to a ball that doesn't move on its own. Finally Ginny falls and just lays back in the grass laughing. She reached out to the sun, like she could capture the warm rays in her hands. Ginny loves the sun. She gazes up at the sky worshiping its brightness and all I can do is watch, and think that the way she worships the light is the way I worship her. She is my sun. Strong, bright, beautiful, warm, and …unattainable. I can reach for her rays, try and capture her light, but I can't. She stands up and walks over to me. She smells of grass and sweat and warmth. She smiles.
"C'mon Hermione. Come play just one round. We'll beat the boys!" She grabbed my hand. Would she have done it if she knew that later her hand on mine would be all I could think about? If she knew that it was going to drive me completely sodding insane? I hope so.
"Alright, Gin," I smiled warmly. She laughed and we ran out to the boys. The sun was blinding, but I could stand it. As long as Ginny worshiped it and I worshipped her, I could stand it.

Should I have another chapter?
