For the First Time

He'd always been attracted to her, ever since the first day of St. Jude when he spotted her across the courtyard, tie wound around her neck loosely, and blonde hair flowing down her waist and beyond. He'd seen her before, they had run in the same circles, but he'd never really taken the time to just look. Sure, his sort-of girlfriend Blair was a beauty, but Serena just had something. He didn't know what exactly it could be, but it made her smiles bigger, made her laugh more, made her eyes bluer.

So he liked it.

But that thing didn't explain why he was currently locking lips with Serena, his girlfriend's best friend in the whole universe, at the Langley-Johnston wedding while his girlfriend, his perfect girlfriend was waiting for them, completely unaware to the fact that they weren't exactly looking for Serena's purse, like they had claimed. Sure, they had found it, but that didn't excuse the fact that he was currently running his hand up Serena's thigh and had the other one tangled in her blonde hair.

It made no fucking sense, to be honest.

Chuck was the one who would do this sort of this, not Nate. Nate was the good guy, the great boyfriend. Not a cheater, not a lier. A good guy. He always had been, he always would be.

But he still kissed her, still helped her take off her purple bra, still helped her with his belt.

Nothing stopped him from sleeping with Serena van der Woodsen at the Langely-Johnston wedding while his girlfriend waited for their return. Nothing.

The worst part about it was that he could still feel Serena's strawberry lipgloss on his lips when he returned to Blair, hair ruffled and shirt not tucked in properly. She made no comment on his appearance, just rose an eyebrow and took the hand he offered, the hand which he had just previously tugged on Serena's hair with minutes before.

Blair Waldorf wasn't the type of girl to cause a scene, especially not at a public event.

Nate Archibald wasn't the type of guy to cheat.

But that had all changed the day he met Serena van der Woodsen.
