Title: Archaeology

Summary: Even if Syaoran couldn't find out about his own past, he would help find others'.
Ever since he was little, Syaoran loved history. Maybe it was the depth, the secrets, the mysteries that haunted his mind, made him itch to unlock the answer to the questions that were always there in his head, or maybe it was just the fact that he, himself, didn't have a past, and was intrigued by others'. Maybe he felt that he needed to protect other peoples' past, even if he couldn't protect his own.
Maybe.
When he met the Princess Sakura, he felt fulfilled. She answered all his questions with that oh-so-bright, sunny smile, and a reply that they both knew wasn't real, but was so so so close, they believed it anyway.
Yes, that's what it was. Belief. Trust.
He believed in her, and she believed in him. And when she lost all her feathers and her memories, he felt guilty, and sad, because she wouldn't ever ever ever remember him after his deal with memories for her existence, but felt…rather…happy as well, because here was another person who didn't remember a past, just like him, which made him feel even worse, and only hardened his resolve to help retrieve all her feathers back. The only difference was that she knew she had a past, and he didn't. Not a single little bit, despite all the convincing his father had shaken into him.
But if there was only one person in the whole entire wide wide world that deserved memories and happiness, he knew, in his heart, that it was her. She was the one that brought laughs and kindness and flowers and all the beautiful, sweet things to the people around her and her country, the only one that made him truly happy, aside from Fujitaka and Seichiro, before, the only one that made him smile and laugh and cry and love.
So he helped her.
She, she was special. Not in the pretty paper fan, beautiful pink sakura flower kind of special, but close. He couldn't use words to describe it, but the spreading of red over his cheeks did explain a lot. He would help her dig, deep deep deep until they hit rock bottom and discovered all the treasures and gold anyone could possibly find, and then come up to the surface, and they'd be truly satisfied. Like archaeology digs, and diving projects. They were all so special to him, but she was the most special, the most beautiful truth, and most innocent truth you could ever find in this world. Not just this world, but all the worlds. She was beautiful, and one day, he hoped she would be his.
Until then, he would return all her feathers to her. Maybe there wouldn't be a happy ending, maybe he'd die, but at least he'd die knowing. Knowing he loved her, knowing she might love him, and knowing. Just simply knowing. And then was enough for Syaoran. Even if Syaoran couldn't find out about his own past, he would help find others'.
He would help find hers.
A/N; Just came up with it last night. Hope you guys enjoyed it, even though it was lousy. My first TRC fic—please be gentle! And of course, please review…that's a no-brainer…right? XD LOL.
