SLASH surrounds the story of a Spartan who should have died when his ship was attacked, but as chance would have it, he is rescued by a mysterious doctor on a planet where the ship crashed on. He is given an extraordinary ability and a chance to stop one of the biggest massacres on a Human colony world ever witnessed.

Chapter 1: Second chance for greater good

Time: 2 months before Reach is destroyed

Location: UNSC Explorer 2

"We need to leave now!" says one marine to another. What about this spartan, we can't leave him here." Alarms start to sound and over the intercomm, a voice says "Abandon ship, I repeat, abandon ship." "We can't carry him, and he looks dead, comon the lifeboats are down the next bend." The first marine says running down the hall. The second marine stands up, looks at the spartan for a moment, and then starts running for the life boats too.

Time: 4 days later

Location: UNSC Explorer 2 crash site

"Wake up, you are not dead." Says an voice over a speaker. Spartan 046 slowly regains consciousness, noticing he is strapped down to a vertically positioned table. "Good, now you are Spartan 046, a Spartan 2 correct?" The voice on the loud speaker asks. "Yes." Spartan 046 replied dryly noticing the metal restraints used on every limb of his body and his head. "...Good, well I have bad news and good news for you." The voice on the loud speaker said about to tell the news. "The bad news is your have caught a virus, which is mutating you as speak, which is why we have these precautions for our safety, the good news is we have a way for you to retain your mind and part of your human physical self." The voice continued. "You are familiar with the flood parasite correct?" The voiced asked..."Yes, although I never encountered any in battle." Spartan 046 said feeling pain in his left arm. "Good, well you have the parasite in you and normally we kill infected, but I have been studying the parasite for a while, and have come to the conclusion that infected flood hosts are being controlled by some type of Flood sentient being, and so I have developed a way for an infected host who hasn't fully changed yet to retain their mind as well as control other fully infected hosts nearby..." The voice explained. "Ok and what does that have to do with me?" Spartan 046 asked feeling more pain in his left arm. "Well it has everything to do with you. You see I already had your comms chip modified to transmit a signal that makes any fully infected flood hosts follow your command in a 150 foot radius, as well as injected you with specially engineered antibodies to stop the infection from spreading further... although your left arm is the only part mutated." The voice further explained. "oh I guess I should be grateful." Spartan 046 said with sarcasm. "The reason you were saved and outfitted wasn't to be a test subject, It is to find some one, and help them." The voice said coughing over the speaker. "Your new code name is SLASH, and your mission is to find a spartan named "Lieutenant 6", on planet reach and help and save the planet. A ship is waiting outside, take it and get to the coordinates marked." The voice said violently coughing as the metal restraints holding SLASH down unlocked and a door opened to the outside.
