Chapter one - they better remember
Usopp sits in the galley with his crew finishing dinner. They have just docked at an island and all agree to explore it the next day. They're all exhausted from trying to escape a group of five marine ships during a raging storm in the middle of the sea earlier that day.
If it wasn't for Nami's navigational skills they'd all been in marine custody by now, or worse. Usopp knows that if it weren't for Nami's navigational skills they would have never even made it into the grand line in the first place.
Usopp laughs at another one of Brooks stupid jokes, and eats Sanji's delicious food. Most of the crew laughs (except for Zoro and Sanji) when Sanji kicks Zoro so hard he flies out of his seat.
Why did Sanji kick Zoro out of his seat, quite literally? No one really knows, probably not even the cook, but Usopp just ignores it. Sanji's been really on nerve ever sense Thriller Bark, and the two years apart didn't do anything to ease this tense aura around him whenever their first mate is around.
Franky makes some perverted joke that gets Robin to have a disembodied hand smack him in the back of his head for. Nami laughs as she collects money from bets she had made earlier most likely about Franky and his perverted jokes.
Usopp tries to stay out of Nami's bets, unless it has to do with Zoro and Sanji. The whole crew has started noticing little things going on between those two; but really, Usopp has been seeing it since the moment Sanji had flown into their table at the Baratie.
He chuckles at the confusion clear on the one eyed swordsman's face. He shrugs and continues to eat. The yelling and shouting continues throughout all of dinner. Some rubbery hands are stabbed with forks to protect their plates. And Chopper has a freak out when Brook pretends to choke on some food. All in all, everything is going well in the Mugiwara crew.
When they're leaving the Galley, Nami reminds Usopp that he has second night watch after Zoro. Usopp just offers to take all night, if the marines are to find them during the night Zoro would be asleep and the marines could ambush them.
Saying that out loud gets Usopp a large bump on his head that looks suspiciously like a hilt of a certain white sword.
They're all so happy in their little band of misfits and would all do well to try and hold onto that feeling of peace as long as they could. Tomorrow is going to be the worst.

Usopp comes running into the galley where the Mugiwara crew are being handed out their allowance.
"Jeeze Usopp, I know we haven't found a town on this island yet, but you could calm down a bit." Nami frowns at the hyperventilating crew mate.
Usopp stands gasping for air while he got bewildered looks from his nakama. His hands on his knees, sputtering for air. Chopper is at his side in seconds.
"Usopp what is it? Are you hurt? Do you have any sharp pains? Do you taste blood?" The little doctor is poking and prodding the sharp shooter.
"No… No, I'm fine. It's just… Marines!" He gasps out pointing out the galley door and onto the deck of the Sunny. Chopper sent a worried look out onto the deck, but turns back to see Franky standing up.
"That's alright bro. Why are you so worked up?" he slaps a hand on Usopp's back, laughing at his panicked state. "I thought that was a long time to piss!"
Usopp only shakes his head. Brook stands, along with all his other nakama, making sure Usopp actually is okay.
"Usopp-san, there's nothing to be worried about. A couple of marine ships can't take out this crew!" Brook laughs merrily, but is stopped abruptly when Usopp grabs his arm. The long nose looks at all his nakamas faces, some more hungry for blood and battle than others.
"That's just it. There's ten marine battle ships out there." He said in barely a whisper, but the room quieted down. Zoro's eyes darkened at the mention of so many opponents, which got him an annoyed but worried look from their cook.
Robin's eyebrows furrow in confusion. There's no need for that many marine ships to be out at this random island. And she doubts that the ships were all called for on their crew.
Brooks usual stoic composure now lost with him sending worried glances at his nakama. Mostly to Nami and Chopper who both had lost a considerable amount of blood in their faces.
Luffy's eyes widen at the amount and how big these ships were and how many men were being carried on it and his smile grew. "Awesome! Were gonna have a battle! And after that we can have a party!" Luffy cheers, getting a couple other crew members excited as well.
Usopp swallows, once more trying to regain his composure, but his trembling legs are having nothing of it. "Guys...They're really strong."Though Luffy seems to only become more excited with this and drowned out Usopp with his cheering.

"These aren't normal marines, they don't have any scrawny wash boys holding a too heavy sword, these men are all trained and know how to deal with themselves." Nami lowers the scope away from her eyes, to look back at her crew.
"Good, I've been itching for an actual fight, the cook's getting worse each day." Zoro smirks at the squawk that comes from the blond.
"What the hell did you just say moss brain?" Sanji steps into the marimos personal space with a heated glare. The other man just holds the look, staring at the other man with a look on his face that says 'try me'.
"You heard me nose bleed. Your fighting abilities suck." Zoro grunts, looking back forward towards their navigator. He see's the foot coming and he ducks just in time.
Nami sighs and rubs her temples as her two crewmates start to fight. She chooses to ignore them for the sake of her sanity. Right now they have enough to think about what they're going to do.
"Well If we're going to fight the marines, lets get on land first so the Sunny doesn't get damaged. Were going to need to make sure they see us exiting the ship so they don't try to attack the Sunny while we're out." She tosses the spy glass to the side and starts to walk towards the side of the ship.
"Hai Nami~swan! Your thinking ahead always is smart!" Sanji walks away from Zoro to swoon at Nami, following her with his legs wiggling like a noodles. He hears Zoro scoff and add idiot under his breath. The swordsman doesn't even see the kick coming.
The rest of the crew ignore them, starting to exit the Sunny. Zoro picks himself up after crashing through the door to the mens bunk room.
"Oi cook, what the hell is wrong with you? You've been more prissy than usual." He scowls at the fuming man across from him.
Sanji slowly moves his leg back down to the ground to stand on both feet. He watches Zoro brush himself off and stands challengingly towards him.
Sanji can't help but notice how the sun makes the sweat on Zoros body from their previous fight shine on his skin. Sanji swallows thickly as Zoro runs a hand through his now longer green hair.
'And curse the swordsman for wearing a more open garment.' Sanji thinks.
Zoro raises an eyebrow at the cook when all he did was stare at him. Suddenly Sanji turns sharply on his heel, mutters something about Zoro to hurry up, and walks away quickly towards his other nakama, ones that don't aggravate him and make him question his sanity; mostly.
The swordsman furrows his brow at the cooks odd behavior but just shrugs and hops off the ship after him. Zoro winces a little from the pain where Sanji kicked him when he lands on the ground .
He catches Sanji's eyes checking his knee, maybe he's worried? Shitty cook thinking he's stronger than me. Zoro scowles.
The series man sighs at Sanji's weird behavior. It's not making Zoro's personal dilemma any better. He already has to restrain himself around the normal cook. Now with the man watching him all the time Zoro's not sure he'll be able to stop himself from doing something he'd regret.
By now some marines have gotten on the smaller row boats and are starting to row out towards the Mugiwara crew at the island. Most of the marines are just jumping off the ship and swimming to shore.
The crew watch the marines come closer until they're sure the men have spotted their crew.
Nami points out that if they let the marines come closer they might think ahead of themselves and do something stupid. Zoro points out that sense they're marines they always do something stupid.
