"I can't do this!" Rigby exclaimed, tossing his beanie to the ground.
"I'll never be able to do a stupid pull-up!"
He started to bolt for the door, but was refrained from getting any nearer when he felt a tug at his arm. He glanced at her warm hand cupping around his.
He skillfully avoided her gaze by staring at the tiled floor.
"You will, Rigby," Eileen assured, pulling him away from the exit door.
"I know you can do it."
His eyes were fixed on her hand, still inevitably locked onto his.
Eileen's cheeks started to turn a fleshy-peach color.
"Oh... sorry," she apologized, letting go.
Rigby had a somber expression, but it quickly faded away as he looked nervously at the pull-up bar looming to his right.
She let out a sigh.
"I know you're afraid of looking stupid, Rigby," she said. "and I know you're terrified of loosing your job as well. But giving up isn't a healthy way to conquer all of those fears!"
Eileen dragged him over to the doorway.
She nudged him forward.
"But, Eileen-"
"No 'buts'! You're going to visualize your goal and do that pull-up. Got it?" she commanded in such a stern manner, catching Rigby off-guard. He simply nodded in response.
Getting a firm grip on the bar, he shut his eyes and listened to what she had to say. "Picture yourself... in the park, on Friday... doing that one pull-up."
The obsidian depths of his mind suddenly splashed with color as Rigby visualized the scenery of the park and him in the center. He took a deep breath and shakily tried to lift his body upwards.
"Can you see it?" she asked, careful not to dent his concentration.
"Uh... yeah," he managed to splutter out.
"Good. Now focus on the people in the crowds. Observe all of their reactions."
One by one, an assembly of animals and people alike formed, encircling Rigby in his head.
He noted the disapproving glare of Muscleman on the sidelines; the loud cheering of Thomas and Skips; a mildly amused Benson; Mordecai, being a great friend as usual, urging him forward.
And then there was Eileen, who was, for some reason, closer to him than anyone else.
Her reaction was the most bizarre; she wasn't angry or happy or glad to be there, cheering him on (like his other co-workers).
She was just watching him with a blank look plastered to her face.
Rigby groaned in pain as he desperately attempted to complete the pull-up.
Beads of sweat rolled down his forehead; wetting his auburn-colored fur.
"Don't you dare give up! You're almost there!"
Something in Rigby kicked in and impelled him forward. His eyes shot open as he reached his head, barely above the bar.
"Rigby," Eileen gasped. "You did it!"
"I did it! I.. actually did it!" Rigby exclaimed, lowering himself to the ground.
"See? I told you that you could!" she replied, smiling broadly.
And that same force that drove Rigby to finish struck yet again.
In the spur of the moment, he lurched towards Eileen and pecked her on the cheek; his lips lightly pressing up against her face.
As soon as it had began, it was over.
Rigby backed up, wondering what the H had constrained him to do that.
It wasn't until a few seconds had elapsed until he realized Eileen had tears in her eyes and rolling down her cheeks.
"You know... you know all that practice we just went through? How it last all night long?"
"...Yeah?"
Eileen was beaming.
"It was totally worth it."
A/N: yeah, you guys remember how at the end of "One Pull Up", Eileen said 'totally worth it' after Rigby crushed her spine? Yes yes, I'm sure you do.
Well, that was just a short little fluff ball I wrote at two in the morning. I felt like it would of been pretty OOC for Rigby to have physically kissed her, though.
welp, hope you enjoyed~ C:
