Riza sipped her tea. She was in Resimbool, sitting on the veranda of the Rockbell house with Winry. They chatted about things that had been happening lately as Winry's son stumbled about on chubby legs. Riza took a sip of her tea. Urey Von Elric was about two years old. His father, Edward, had gone into town with Alphonse and Roy. "So how is fuhrer Mustang liking his new job?" Winry asked. Riza smiled slightly, "Its hard work, but he is more motivated to get things done on time. Its nice not having to threaten him to do things anymore". Winry laughed, "Since Ed and I got married, I think I have to threaten him to do things even more often!" They both smiled, amused at their husbands' infamous laziness.

Riza felt a tug on her leg. She looked down to see Urey below her with his arms outstretched. "Hey, little man," she said hoisting him onto her lap. "What have you been up to?" Urey looked around and pointed a small finger at Den. "Doggy". Winry smiled. Her son had always liked Den. Then, she thought of something and cocked her head to the side, "Riza, have you and Roy thought about having kids?" Riza let out a soft, almost inaudible sigh as she set Urey on the floor. She took a sip of tea. "It's kind of complicated, but after the war, the way we saw things changed. We felt like because of the things we did there, we didn't deserve happiness. That's why I stayed a soldier; I felt like if I followed Roy, I might have a chance at a little redemption. Now that we're finally married and we have a chance at happiness, we don't know if we deserve it. After all of the lives we've taken, how could we bring a life into this world?"

Winry stayed silent for a moment. And then she said the same thing Edward had said to Riza years ago, "That's not fair. Of all the people I know, you two deserve happiness the most. You are a wonderful person, Riza, and you would make a great mother; Ed and Al always thought so too." Riza was surprised by that statement; she didn't know that. She sipped her tea."Ed and Al think I would be a good mother?" Winry smiled and nodded. " Yeah, Al told me. He said that you kind of reminded him of aunt Trisha. The way you treated them was different then how most people did. How did he put it?... Oh yeah he said, ' I like Hawkeye because she kind of treats us like children, but doesn't condescend to us.' Ed also told me that he trusted and respected you more than just about anyone else outside the family. Having the Elric brothers think so highly of you is a great accomplishment in my book!"

Riza cracked a small smile. "Thank you, Winry. I think I needed to hear that". Winry just lifted a sleepy Urey onto her lap and said, "Anytime". Riza looked over at the horizon and saw the three broad-shouldered figures approaching the Rockbell home at a slow pace. She picked up her tea cup and brought it to her lips only to find it was empty.
