Disclaimer: Really now if I was Rowling you think I would be giving away some of the back story on here? Not bloody likely. It's all hers, except for Kristen Moore.
If Lily Evans had learned one thing about James Potter in the seven years she had known him, it was that his eyes never stayed the same exact color for long. How this managed to happen was beyond her. Nevertheless genetics and luck bestowed him with multiple tones in the shade of brown. When he smiled at his friends his eyes would turn the color of honey, almost too gold to be considered brown. When he was upset they turned into a rich caramel tone. Make him angry and they turned shade lighter then black, like plain coffee she decided. When he was laughing they turned into a velvety, almost indescribable color, one which when Lily first saw them, reminded her of the chocolate cake her friend Kristen Moore had at her birthday party when Kristen turned six years old.
Not that Lily was obsessed with James mind you. Oh no, she left that up to the blushing third years and giggling fourth years that followed him around in a fogged brain daze. But there was something about those eyes. Those melt-in-your-soul, take-your-breath-away eyes. She just could not help but be entranced.
It was after-all, his entire bloody fault. If he had never brought her soup all the way from the kitchens to the Head dormitories when she was sick a few weeks ago, she would have never been like this. But he did and that is when she took a good long look at him and noticed his eyes. And the color when he looked at her she never saw with any of his other actions. They were a slight shade of cocoa; only there was a copper undertone to them as well. They were the most addicting, gorgeous amber she had ever dreamed of. And how would he know that amber was her favorite color? Blast him!
Lily sank deeper in the plush armchair of the Head's Common Room as she closed her eyes and pictured those memorizing eyes in her mind. She got lost in her fantasies for a bit, being glad it was a Saturday and she had not much to do. She had let out a small sigh before being aware that there was another presence in the chair beside her; a presence that could only be one person. She slowly lifted her lids, put out with him for interrupting her daydream, when she saw them. Those deep eyes. Current color? Amber. Those penetrating orbs just looking at her, probing her own eyes for signs of emotion as well. Transfixed, she watched as the amber darken, yet, brightened all at the same time. She had lost her internal battle (okay she was a bit obsessed), but it no longer mattered because he knew too. And those eyes came closer to hers before fluttering shut and a warmth spread through her body.
A/N: Kinda short, yes but then it's mostly just the rambling of Lily going on in her mind, that is why it goes off subject a little, and she starts sentences with And as well. I wrote this at 4am while there was a storm going on and I couldn't sleep. Nor could I get this little idea out of my head until I wrote it down. I realize it lacks in areas, but I'm really proud of how this came out on such little sleep to work on. Look alive people, less than 3 days till Book 7!Yay!I found this and rewrote some of it so let me know what you think.
