Fix-It-Felix Jr. tiptoed out of the penthouse. His wife, Tamora, was still sound asleep and he didn't want to wake her, let alone all the nicelanders who lived in the apartment building. He just had to tell someone about the conversation that he had with his wife. He couldn't tell Gene, he'd probably faint and begin a long tirade. Marie, oh she was sure to spread the word faster than three viruses would ever destroy a game. No, he had to confide in the one person he knew would listen. The one person he considered his best friend aside from Tamora: Wreck-It-Ralph.
So, Felix sneaked into the dump and knocked on the door to Ralph's home. The hulking man soon answered, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes and wearing nothing but red shorts.
"Felix, what are you doing here? It's almost 5 in the morning, the arcade doesn't open for another 3 hours."
"Ralph, I've got something to talk about. It's really important."
Ralph leaned against the door. "Is anyone hurt?"
"No."
"Is the arcade on fire?"
"Uh, no."
"Is the game being unplugged?"
"Of course not."
"Goodnight." Ralph closed the door in Felix's face.
"Ralph, open this door this minute. I need someone to talk to."
"Forget it, Felix. I'm going back to bed."
"Ralph, it's important. Tamora and me...We want to have a child."
There was silence inside the tiny house, before Ralph opened the door again. This time, he invited Felix in and they sat together in his living room. After a moment of awkward silence, Ralph cleared his throat.
"So, a kid, huh? Well, that's something...er...different."
"Ralph, me and Tamora had a long talk about this. I know she comes off strong sometimes, but you should see the way she looks at some of the kids coming into the arcade and she actually goes over to Sugar Rush at night just to be sure the kids are all asleep and safe. Of course, you know how I love kids."
"I know, but...Felix...We're all characters in arcade games. There are some things that we can't do. Not without changing the code."
Felix looked down at his feet. "I know. That's why we decided to change ours."
Ralph stood to his feet. "Y-You what?! Are you crazy? No one's tried to change a code, it's insane!"
"Ralph, there's no other way!"
"I know there isn't!"
"We want to have children!"
"I know you do!"
"Why are you yelling?"
"I'm a villain, it's something I do!"
Ralph took a moment to regain his composure before talking again. "Felix, this could be dangerous. You've got to consider a lot of things here."
"We have considered, Ralph, and me and Tamora are going through with it." Felix stood to leave. "I thought you would understand what this meant to us. I guess I was wrong. I have my joystick, and she has her coin slot and we are darn well going to use them one way or the other!"
Felix stormed out of the house, slamming the door behind him. Ralph knew he wouldn't be able to talk him out of it, he only hoped that he knew what he was doing.
