I used up so much time writing this... And I condemned two of my favourite characters to death. Dammit.
Mihawk didn't know it'll end up like this.

He'd guess it will happen. Indeed, he had foreseened it when he stayed his sword.

But it was so undignified.

Screw dignity.

At least, he reflected with a mild amusement, as his head lolled back and his hawk-yellow eyes dimmed and glazed, he had left his position in capable hands.

Juraquille Hawkeye Mihawk died with a smirk on his lips as he relinquished his position to Roronoa Zoro.

---

Dammit.

Man, hell yeah, like what Mihawk said, it was all their own fault.

Shanks brought it on himself anyway.

It was still rather funny. Surreal. Yeah.

Power could corrupt even innocents, he grinned as he stared at his death, at the straw hat and the tears pouring wildly down the formerly chubby cheeks.

Red-Haired Shanks left the world with a wide grin and tears spattered on his death wound.

---

Bloody power shifts.

Edward Newgate had always hated politics.

Oh well, he knew it would be coming soon when he'd heard about the shifts.

He still wasn't prepared though. Still surprised. Fool.

But he was, oh yes indeed, he thought as he gazed at the flickering flames and the shaking hand, proud of his boy.

Edward Whitebeard Newgate's furnereal pyre burned long and bright for many many hours.

---

He wasn't supposed to die!

The others were weak.

They listened to him. They listened to him, Spandam! It was his position!

Traitor, cowardly goddamned traitor... He wouldn't go quietly, like those three fools!

He would die, he thought when it was the last as he stared at the bloodied claws, he would die alone and unmourned.

Spandam's death screams were quietened with clods of cold earth thrown over his torn body.

---

Three furnereals were conducted. One was left alone quietly.

People cried. People laughed.

Some wept. Some rejoiced.

The Shichibukai were frozen and silent, with Donquixote laughing and crying at the furnereal and Kuma reading the Bible.

The Red Haired Pirate Crew were quiet, with torn throats and slitted guts and a ripped flag dangling from a broken mast.

The Whitebeard Crew rang with dead laughs as they celebrated the new Captain's ascent, as beer and rum were smashed open.

The Cipher Pol exchanged looks, shrugged, dusted their hands and returned to work.

---

All shifts.

The world would always turn.

Roronoa Zoro drank himself near to death, his hands wrapped so tightly around his swords that they bled.

Monkey D. Luffy stood on a clifftop and screamed until he coughed blood at the sky.

Portgas D. Ace smoked cigars for three hours straight as he kept his left arm blazing continously in cold sea water.

Rob Lucci went to a bar and bought a bottle of Irish whiskey, which he broke open with the other CP9 members.

The world will still turn.
