Deadly Desires
It's a story with uh.. stuff. This is just a piece of writing about Tale of the Otori by Lian Hearn which I haven't read in a while. I sort of forgot I wrote this..
It was desire that drove him to it. Was always desire. He was infactuated with having what he could not.
Kaede.. she was beautiful. Men who desired her died. She was cursed, despite her beauty. Then, as an added bonus, Lord Shigeru, his saviour and adopted father and uncle, was berothed to his cursed beauty.
It was all he could ever want. A desirable girl who could not be anymore out of reach than she was. She would be his, he would make sure of it.
Often, he would find himself wondering how he could kill Shigeru. He would later punish himself for thinking such thoughts about his Lord.
Then.. the whole plot fell to pieces when he was kidnapped by the Tribe on the night that Iida should have been killed by his own hands. Instead, Iida was killed by sweet, desirable Kaede. Shigeru was punished, hung on the castle walls and Takeo swore he would join the tribe if they allowed him to release Shigeru and get vengence on Iida.
Save Shigeru he did, but Shigeru had found out about Lady Maruyama's death and pleaded for Takeo to kill him with Jato, his beloved sword. Takeo now had the power to do what he had secretly dreamt.
With hardly a second thought he beheaded Lord Shigeru. He was dead. He had promised Kaede to him. And like that, he was freed from her spell. He had her now.
He knew he was going to die now. The whole of Tohan was against him and upon finding Kaede covered in Iida's blood, he realised she would die too. They spent what they thought was their last night together.
By chance, they did escape with Shizuka's help. They went to Terayama where Shigeru's head was buried. Takeo was very fortunate; he had fallen out of love with Kaede and could easily escape with the Tribe.
One night in Terayama, Takeo heard the sound of a flute playing a sad song. He went out into the graveyard where the young priest, Makoto, was playing a sad tune on his flute. He was struck by the deadly desire for what he could not have once more.
Makoto was a priest; he could not be with man nor woman. His life was dedicated to the temple, he could be with no other. Takeo made sure he was his that night.
He now held both Kaede's and Makoto's hearts and he didn't want them anymore. There was no risk to it, they wanted him therefore it was too easy. He escaped with the tribe where he met Yuki.
Yuki was the pretty girl who had carried Shigeru's head to Terayama. She was promised to Akio, the man who possibly hated Takeo more than anyone else alive. Yuki was perfect for him, Takeo told himself, she would be his.
So, playing the poor victim of being wrenched away from the love of his life, he was able to draw Yuki to him where they spent so many nights in each others arms. It drove Akio insane yet he could not prevent it.
Then, like that, Yuki was gone. Pregnant with his child who was destined to kill him. Little did he know, Kaede was also pregnant but had a miscarriage.
He didn't want Yuki anymore; he had found out she was scheming and Akio really didn't care as much as he let on. He couldn't stand it. He left the tribe, instantly making him a victim on their hit list. It was only a matter of a time before they got to him.
On his road to Terayama, he crossed Makoto who was delirious and disorientated, having been sent away as he was so infactuated with Takeo, it was unhealthy. Takeo felt for the first time, guilt.
He realised then that maybe their was a second chance for Kaede and him. He would learn to love her again, nothing was different.
A month later, they were married.
Just my little interpretation of it. Review?
