Remnant; a world far different than the stories of old passed down through generations. In those days, humanity had once lived in what is now known as the Golden Age. An era where all of humanity were in great harmonious harmony, sharing knowledge and practicing variety of beliefs.

That is, however, before the grimm arrived and shattered the peace that had governed the world of Remnant.

Now only ashes remain. Where humanity were once united, they had dispersed and during that process sacred knowledge and religions were, sadly, lost or forgotten.

Even the moon represented Remnant's current state for it too had become shattered, its pieces scattered across the bleak dark skies.

Long gone were the days of Duchies and Princedoms and in their quest to survive, the people found strength in unity. And those monarchs that could seize the opportunity provided them with such, to a degree. This sudden act of unification across Remnant, however, did not result in a bright future, as many hoped; on the contrary, it led to "The Great War of Remnant". Kingdoms now found themselves with immense strength and resources but also a lot of citizens to lead and handle.

New ideologies began to form. Some promoted freedom and happiness while others promoted order and security. None were perfect, yet all aimed to do one thing: protect themselves against Grimm threat. However, the Grimm were a global threat, and the Kingdoms of Mantle and Mistral used this as a reason for their aggressive stance in Remnant politics.

The dispute over Sanus was all they needed to start a war, and no neutral force on Remnant could stop it. Events preceded and in the end Vale and Vacuo were victorious. Lands were redistributed, Faunus were given equal rights and continent of Menagerie were given to them as a compensation, which belonged to Mistral and Mantel before hand. Slavery was abolished and the four Huntsmen academies were formed. Lastly the Justicar Order -formerly known as Guardians of Draken, an order created centuries before the Kingdoms in an effort to act as a neutral, global vanguard against the evils of the world- were given formal recognition as Intercontinental peacekeepers. Everyone began to believe that their time of peace and prosperity had come. Yet, reality is often disappointing. All these did not result in the eternal peace the "Warrior King" of Vale had hoped for.

Vacuo did not stand together, dividing further between each other, each city trying to protect themselves and their interest, with city of Alamanda doing so to protect their ancient monarchy. Today they are a Kingdom only in name.

Mantle descended into chaos and gave away to a military government with Atlas Academy playing a key role in the formation of this new kingdom. On paper they are governed by a civilian body working together with both royal and military elements. In reality though they only have power as long as their doings suit the interests of the nobility and military. Slavery simply changed name in Atlas, much like in Alamanda, but instead of calling it serfdom like Alamanda, they called them state workers or indentured servants.

Mistral, while changing their social structure something resembling of Vale, also adopted a new sense of patriotism surrounded around their Emperor and his council. They remembered the end of the Great War not as a lesson to be learned but as a great humiliation they suffered. While in the current day this sentiment died down considerably, it still lingers in the minds of Mistral's people.

Vale went through a period of stability, but they took after their sentiment of peace a little too much. Today their military might is a shadow of its former self. A combination of pride and satisfaction led them down a path of stagnation. They did not modernize and certainly did not re-arm. Vale relies on their huntsmen and Justicar Order to protect them. While very liberating to their people, it also poses many different dangers for them from the outside.

Draken Continent, the continent that is located North of Vacuo, having been lost to them way back in the age where Kingdoms were not unified, remains relatively unknown. Today only a band of few cities and towns survive on it, at the very end of Draken's southern tip. They are called Southern Realms and they are the nation that deals with the Grimm the most. They are also the only nation that is not protected by Justicar Order.

The Justicar Order, re-formed from the ashes of "Guardians of Draken" who were located between Vacuo and Vale after losing their home to the Grimm , have been working as peacekeepers for a century now. 80 years before our story begins, with the end of the Great War, received formal recognition, and treaties have been given to them detailing their right to enforce laws decided during the peace treaty and the responsibility they have to each Kingdom. In return all Kingdoms would provide them with every needed supply once a month. Today their numbers are the highest they have ever been, yet they are stretched thinner than ever. And they are no longer the sole military power on Remnant with the rise of Atlesian Military. Their reputation with the Faunus have also taken a major hit recently in Menagerie.

Menagerie was not what the Faunus had hoped for at all. Despite its size, only the coastal areas were well suited to settle, with the inner continent mostly desert and uninhabitable without a lot of work and manpower, which the Kingdoms were not willing to lend. And they still had a huge human influence on their continent, thanks to the Justicar Order. 3 years before our story begins, a terrible incident happened in Menagerie where the local Justicar Order battalion forcefully searched Faunus settlements for White Fang elements. Their invasion of privacy was seen as borderline occupation and it resulted in an intercontinental crisis. As per their new agreement only Faunus members of the Justicar Order could be stationed there, though as expected this did not fix any damaged relationships.

Today, Remnant is more divided than ever, with tension is in the air, Grimm rampage throughout every Kingdom in ways that have not been seen since the Great War, and they only grow more dangerous with each passing day. In this age where men and women are dwarfed before simple events and politics, one young man burns with the desire to help everyone and make a difference.

Known as "The Phase" to some, he was born and raised in Patch Island, and holds onto his dreams of ensuring peace by fighting those who wrong the innocent. All he knew about life until now was limited to his hometown and his adventures in it. He spent his days fighting petty criminals and messing up with their business by reckless endangerment and vandalism.

Little did he know fate would take him to far off places, meet people he never knew of, and be thrust into situations he could never imagine. Will he and those he meets during this journey will be enough to help him achieve his goals? Or will they simply struggle against the inevitable?
