Song used: Mamba – Kun olet poissa (=When you're gone)
Unreachable Whisper
The sky was cloudy, night grey that put horrible pressure on lone souls. A woman sat on her bed, blood rushed through her veins, roared in her ears making even the thought of sleeping impossible. The woman waited for sleep to come – or sun to rise. To her it was the same, sleepless sleep or distant day.
The moment when my fears are gone…Why are you just a reflection of me, my fears? When you're near, in a battle, I fear that you get hurt, that I can't protect you. In the darkness I fear that I'm nobody, a shadow, to you.
Sighing she got up and walked to the streets, after many similar days she didn't bother to change anymore. She fell asleep when her body wasn't able to go on anymore, the extreme exhaustion ate way to her mind.
A promise of moonlight was in the air, gently yet cold wind rustled the dark blue grass. Summer was long gone, only a grave was left, the handful of half green leaves on the trees. Night had painted those blue, just like the autumn colored ones.
The city slept restlessly, only sole woman was walking on the streets. Her reflection was hollow, puddles couldn't quite capture her sad beauty and distant pain at the same time. Water was unsure, it didn't know what to reflect. Endless pain, day and night, it was a circle of hatred and regret.
Eyes didn't betray any emotion, the wandering nightmares couldn't shake the outer calmness. Her inner self, however, was shattered fragility. Not even armor protected her heart, metal couldn't stop disappointment or fear. Plain iron was useless against the cruel world of affection.
When you're gone, I see your reflection everywhere, in eyes of others, whispers in the wind.
For someone who avoided sticking out, love was a nightmare. Odd mood changes, staring into distance, nervousness… She couldn't deal with those things. She knew that she was unusually strong which pained her sometimes because everyone followed her every step fearing an explosion of rage.
The night was silent, the only company to the woman was her thoughts, horrors, errors. The same old song played in her mind, the same melody of despair. She hadn't wanted to share her love with another, she couldn't have done that. What was hers was hers only. The girl had known it, everyone had known it and that's why the lone warrior had stayed silent. Even when the girl had come to her crying, with a broken heart that should be amended.
It had been mistake number one, to stay silent, let the girl become unreachable whisper in the sky, cloud dancer. She wasn't suitable for the girl anymore, never was. The gap of seven horrifying years scared her, had separated them. The warrior couldn't do anything but ask the same question over and over again.
Why can't I reach you?
After all, it takes a dragon to understand one.
To fly over obstacles of life.
