Title: Defiance

Rating: K

Word Count: Drabble ~260 Words

Author Notes: Wrote this for my friend, MiryBrac, who wanted a bed time story...

Two brothers destined for greatness. One brother had fair hair that flowed in the wind, the energy of a kitten with the bite of a lion hidden within his strong physique. The other had raven dark locks swept back delicately, accentuating his bright eyes and high cheekbones hiding the mischievous smirk that held a permanent residence on his face. He was the younger, far more intellectual brother.

Whilst his kin was conquering lands (and women), he was delving into the literature of their people, their past and their glories. He was the bookish one, his brother the brave warrior. He was destined to be an advisor to the king, his brother meant to be the king. He had no quarrels with that; his father long since drilled the idea in his head.

But now that the day his brother would be crowned, he began to have doubts. How could someone as reckless and spoiled be a fair and just ruler? How can a kitten's energy was overcome a lion's bite? The answer was simple: it could not.

He had to act - his first ever defiance would have to happen now, in front of a waiting court, his loving mother and proud father at either side of the stage, smiles on their ever patient faces. He would have to act before the crown exchanged homes - from his fathers head to that of his brother. He had little time to stop the coronation and delay the destruction of his home. He had to act now.

The End.
