Woah, Woah, Woah, Let's put down the pitchforks and set a few things straight here.
1. This story as i present it, is informationally inaccurate from the real series. this is to not give too many spoilers to all of you who only watches the Anime.(I read the manga and i'm up to date with everything as of Chapter 930)
2. Trafalgar D. Water Law's "Perennial Youth Operation" or "Immortality Operation" (Depending on which sub is being used) is, in this story, a move that gives the taregt immortality (which means the target cannot die and will live forever). Since the translation is inconsistent, there is an unclairity if this move makes the user immortal or just gives them eternal youth (young forever but can be killed).
3. Haki in this story will be abused to death"
4. Luffy is, like, Overpowered
5. This story will have changes. The arc's will be the same (Up to water 7 at least) but they will have different outcomes and scenes which is not in the original Anime/manga.
That being said, when it comes to Chapters uploaded, i shall try to get at least one per week.
Disclaimer: I do NOT own One Piece.
Luffy blinked once, then twice. He even tried to rub his eyes, but the view never changed.
It was the ceiling of a room, a bedroom to be exact, one that, no matter how many years passed by, and no matter how many times time itself looped, he'd never forget. It was the guest bedroom on the second floor in his favorite pub, back home at his village. The one he had slept in so many times when he was younger, before he met Ace and Sabo, before he even met Shanks... and it just so happened to be the last bed he slept in before he started his journey
His journey, he remembered now, why he was lying there in the first place, why he was there, and not with his crew.
There were no Straw-Hat pirates
Nobody knew Luffy as an infamous pirate
None of his friends knew who he was, none of his enemies hated him, or acknowledged his strength. None of his rivals had any reason to be rivals with him yet.
There was no adventure
Not until day. Today was the day he, Monkey D. Luffy started his very own pirate adventure
...or to be exact, RE-started his adventure.
(Flashback)
Luffy stared blankly at the sea as the sunny drifted aimlessly forward on the endless ocean with no hope of control, and no one to steer it, and no one to navigate. No one to spot islands in the distance, no one to make food for the crew, no one to keep the crew healthy, no one to repair and upgrade the ship, no one to play music. There was also no one to give information to the crew about almost anything, and no one to constantly train and drink alcohol.
There were no one, except for Luffy and the Sunny.
The ship itself was a total wreck. It's main mast gone, with only the bare roots slightly sticking up from the deck. The second mast was more intact, but it was missing one of the support pillars for the sail, and it had a giant crack going up the entire mast. The entire observation room was destroyed, the crows nest was too. The deck and giant cracks in them that went all the way from the Sunny's head all the way to the back of the ship. The sides of the ship was torn, and huge chunks of the railings were missing, alongside the top half of the docking door at the left side of the ship. The booster on the back of the ship was also destroyed. Even the ever smiling Sunny's head was no longer smiling, since it was missing it's entire bottom half. There was also an absurd amount of glass shards spreads around absolutely everywhere on the ship, as everything that was made of glass was broken. And to top it all off, Everything was wet, as the ship had been hit by a short lived, but terrible rainstorm.
Luffy sat on what was left of the railing on the ship and stared aimlessly at the ocean. His hair, and torn cloth soaking wet from the rain, and his straw hat was nowhere to be seen.
He had cried his tears dry, there was not a single one left to shed. He had shouted his throat so dry, to the point that he had cough up blood to get a single tone out. his inner rage felt uneasy, as there was no room for him to let it out upon there on the practically scrapped piece of wood somehow still sailing on the ocean.
Even the ocean, his most natural weakness (After eating a devil fruit) was now ineffective in ending his life, all because of Trafalgar D. Water Law's sacrifice on Raftel. By using his "Perennial youth operation" technique, he had sacrificed his life for Luffy in the climax of the intense battle between the Straw hat grand fleet and the world governments strongest forces. An act which Luffy hated by all his heart, not only because he lost a friend, but also because he didn't want to be immortal. Luffy knew that Law had wanted to use it on him for some time ever since he first learned of the technique, and he had tried to make a point to dodge it. But it was hard to dodge when you laid bloody and beaten on the ground, paralyzed in your own pain.
"Damn you law, why did you do that?!"
His voice was so dry that the sentence was barely heard by his own ears. Even his Haki was worn out to the point of almost non existent, something he had a hard time wrapping his mind around, considering his Haki had broken it's own limits so much these past weeks. With his Color of observation reaching the point of seeing the future to a surprisingly long extent, and his color of armament reaching what previously was gear 4 Haki as it's base strength, (and making gear 4's Haki almost unfairly powerful).
But what's more surprising was the fact that his conqueror's Haki had seemed to completely vanish after the fierce battle had ended, and he was the last man standing, there, on Raftel, as the next King of the Pirates.
But now, it couldn't bother him less. Nothing could, as he slowly drifted, seemingly all alone in the world. His friends was dead, and the ones still alive, like Vivi and Rebecca, had gone back to their kingdoms, far away from where he was. He knew that if they knew he was alive, they would come to rescue him no questions asked, but how could they know, after all, they didn't have a Vivre of him so they couldn't track him down. And even if Rebecca had Observation Haki, it was way to weak for her to be able to pick up on his presence if they didn't have a clue as to where he was.
Luffy didn't care either way. He just wanted to sleep, to sleep and wake up from what had to be the worst nightmare in the history of nightmares.
But it was no dream, it was no nightmare.
It was reality. Unchangeable, harsh reality.
Or at least, that's what he thought it was, until lady luck decided to give Luffy a kick so hard, it change his very existence. And that kick came in the form of a single small ship approaching behind Luffy's scrap of wood.
A single ship with a single man on it, but it was no ordinary man.
It was none other than Dr. Vegapunk himself. The former lead scientist of the world government and the marines. He was responsible for some of this world's most fascinating discoveries, like how a person could survive eating two devil fruits, or how to create your very own devil fruit.
He created the pacifista, he unrevealed the science behind the devil fruits first, he created an artificial devil fruit army along with Doflamingo and Kaido and he even managed to merge devil fruits and objects to create a sword with an elephant ability.
These was only a few of his many achievements over the years. But his greatest one to date was just about to happen.
Vegapunk's ship reached the Sunny in almost no time at all, and the man wasted no time connecting the two ships with a strange looking rope, before jumping aboard the sunny to meet Luffy, who, despite his reflexes and senses, had just noticed him, But he didn't care
"Monkey D. Luffy.. it's an honor finally meet you in person" Vegapunk greeted.
Luffy didn't bother to turn around, he wasn't in the least bit interested in the man behind him, he just wanted to be alone.
But Vegapunk had predicted this, and so, he pulled something out of the bag he had on his back.
Luffy sensed the presence of the object and turned faster than the eye could blink
In Vegapunk's hand was his straw hat, and better yet, in perfect condition.
He tried to speak, but his dry throat prevented him from making any sound at all, something Vegapunk had, again, predicted, so he pulled a bottle of water from his bag and tossed it to Luffy, who looked at the bottle with a skeptic look.
"It's just water" Vegapunk confirmed, and witnessed what had to be the fastest bottle of liquid being consumed he'd ever seen.
Luffy, after drinking every drop of water, dried his mouth with his hand before finally greeting Vegapunk back, only with his hat as his interest"
"Why do you have my hat Vegapunk?"
Vegapunk was surprised that Luffy knew it was him, but there was no time for questions.
"I picked it up from the ocean and fixed it my way"
Luffy stared at Vegapunk with a questioning look.
"What do you mean your way? Give it to me!" he demanded, trying to stretch his hand to grab his hat, only for it to be slapped away easily by Vegapunk, who used some sort of energy which flicked Luffy's hand right back at him with a force which Luffy wasn't prepared for, and it caused him to almost lose his balance and fall off the railing, but he managed to get his balance back just in time
"Hey! What's the big idea?" Luffy asked in a annoyed tone
Vegapunk stared at Luffy with a serious look, almost forcing Luffy to shut his mouth.
"This Straw-hat has been trough a lot. Ever since Gol D. Roger first obtained it and passed it on to Shanks, who later passed it on to you. Do you have any ideawhy it was passed to you?"
Luffy didn't answer, but he had a weird dwelling like feeling in his stomach. Something told him that he wouldn't like the answer.
Vegapunk continued
"This hat was passed to you because of your strong willed character and determined attitude to fulfill your goals, that's why the hat choose you as it's next owner, but when you lost your determination, the hat left you." Vegapunk commented, while pulling out a roll of papers and dropped it to the floor
"See if you can spot one similarity between all of these"
The papers were wanted posters, there were seven of them, and all of them belonged to him.
First: 30.000.000
Second: 100.000.000
Third: 300.000.000
Fourth: 400.000.000
Fifth: 500.000.000
Sixth: 1 000 000 000
Seventh: 2 500 000 000
Vegapunk looked at Luffy who stared at all his posters. He knew that Luffy already knew the answer.
"This is Monkey D. Luffy, a pirate who took the world by storm, and who achieved a Yonko level bounty within 3 years of being a pirate. His unique ability to make allies wherever he went was part of the reason why he became so infamous so quickly. Jinbe, Hancock, Mihawk, Whitebeard and his crew, The three sweet generals of the Big mom pirates, Cracker, Smoothie and Katakuri. You were even mentored by The dark king Rayleigh himself, and trough your extreme battles, your Haki reached a level only seen by the Yonko and the most powerful people of the World Government"
Vegapunk stopped and met Luffy's eyes with his own
"But you are not him, he wasn't weak in this situation. You are, and therefore you are unworthy to carry the straw hat." Vegapunk finished.
Luffy's head dropped. He knew this already, why he had lost his hat. So why was Vegapunk here to rub it in his face?
"But, I have come here to give you a opportunity, a second chance, to go back and undo what went wrong in the first place"
Luffy's attention went from 10 to 110%, as he stared at Vegapunk in shock.
"What? How? What do you mean?" Luffy asked, an expression of pure disbelief had placed itself on his face.
Vegapunk grinned, he knew he could get Luffy's attention with this.
"I shall spare you the details as to how this is possible, but I shall inform you what will happen. You will be sent back all the way to Foosha village, the day when you first started your adventure. Your age and body will alter just slightly, so you will appear just like your body did a year ago. Your Armament Haki will be reduced to a normal Black Color. The same goes for your observation. You will still have the ability to see the future, but it will be reduced to a very limited time, and you will not be able to do it whenever you please, as your Haki won't be powerful enough to do so. You are gonna have to train your Haki again if you want to be as powerful as you are now. Your Conqueror's Haki will be back as wll, but since it's affected by your willpower, I cannot alter it"
Luffy starred at Vegapunk. They clearly wasn't on the same page.
"The reason for all these setbacks is so that you can become even more powerful than what you are now. You will have the potential to reach a level beyond the Yonko, and reach a level only seen by Gol D. Roger"
Luffy starred at Vegapunk. He was still shocked by this, not really believing What Vegapunk promised. It just sounded... Unnatural.
Vegapunk read Luffy like a book and smiled.
"Unnatural, yes. But since have Devil Fruits ever been natural?"
"A devil fruit?" Luffy questioned.
"The Time Time Fruit, one of the most unnatural fruits to exist." Vegapunk answered, and in the next second, a blue aura rose from his palm, and formed into a hologram-like Stopwatch.
Luffy was amazed. This fruit existed? With that ability he could undo any of his mistakes.
"However, to do this, I need an energy source with infinite energy, and you are the only one who possesses it" Vegapunk stated
Luffy's confused expression permanently burnt itself on his face.
"The details are unimportant, but just know that when Law gave you immortality, he basically gave you a infinite source of living energy, making you immortal. But this perk will be gone when you go back in time, so you will be killable when you wake up. But if there is any help to it, then just know that you are the only who will ever be able to get a entirely new timeline because of this. Vegapunk explained as he got closer to Luffy
Luffy, still confused, felt a slight spike of relief in his stomach, for some reason being able to die was more reassuring to him, as it was natural to die.
He nodded, confirming that he undersood, at least the most important parts of it.
"If there are no more questions, than I shall send you on your way" Vegapunk informed. He knew Luffy had tons of questions, but there was only one he was going to answer to.
"Why"? Luffy asked
Vegapunk smiled, this was the question he waited for.
"You see, before we disbanded, I was the scientist of the Roger pirates. I have been waiting a long time for someone to take out captain's title as the new King of the Pirates, and ever since Rayleigh informed us about you, I have been waiting for that day, when someone became the new king. And that day will come. But since things went ugly under the war on Raftel, I'm giving you a second opportunity, since you are able to be given one"
Luffy just stared at him, he didn't really know how to react, but perhaps it was for the best that he didn't know.
"One more thing, one person of your choosing will be given his or hers memories of this timeline, So they will know who you are and what you have done if you were to meet them again" Vegapunk informed.
Luffy took this question to his head, dwelling on it for a few moments before deciding,
"I want it to be Rayleigh" Luffy answered.
Vegapunk smiled yet again.
"Good choice"
Then, he dashed towards Luffy, who, despite seeing it coming, was unable to move a muscle. Vegapunk then thrusted his palm in Luffy's chest, and a rainbow-like color started to glow in his palm.
"TIMELINE REVERT!"
The last thing he remembered was the strange feeling of his soul seemingly leaving his body, and his vision covered in a deep blue color, before everything went black.
(Flashback end)
Luffy blinked out of his flashback. Thinking about what happened gave him a headache. It was a fuzzy memory, but one thing was clear.
He had done it. Vegapunk had done it. He had sent Luffy back in time, restarting his timeline.
He had been given a second opportunity, he was not going to waste it.
"Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Sanji, Chopper, Robin, Franky, Brook, Jinbe, Rayleigh, Sabo and Ace! Don't worry, I will become the king of the pirates!"
First Chapter done. Remember, Luffy will be very powerful, and will (most likely) not have any real trouble before Alabasta, but i shall try to keep it going in a interesting way. also, expect the crew's size to be bigger than what it is in the orignial series.
