It was just another typical day for Big Time Rush recording at Rocque Records for their new song City is Ours.
"Because the Night is Young
The Light is out the Door
Today was Crazy but,
Tonight the City is Ours
Live it Up
Until the Morning Comes
Today was Crazy but Tonight,
The City is Ouuuurs [4x]
The City is Ours"
When they ended the song they were feeling pretty good about it because it was an awesome song and who wouldn't want to sing it? While they were celebrating what they thought was a successful recording, all of a sudden they hear screaming in their headphones.
"DOGS THAT WAS AMAZING...LY AVERAGE! WE CAN'T AFFORD AVERAGE! IF BIG TIME RUSH IS GOING TO BE FAMOUS THEN YOU HAVE TO BE BETTER THAN THE BEST! YOU HAVE TO GO ABOVE AVERAGE!"
Gustavo was not happy not because of their singing, well for the most part, 'what is it going to take to drag that kid's talent out. Damn Kendall and his deal to turn them into a singing group.'
Despite how he first seemed reluctant to take on the project of the four hockey players, in reality he couldn't have been more happy to take them as Big Time Rush. He saw the determination that would make Kendall the perfect level head that would keep them together, the drive that took him months to find in James that would never allow them to just give up and walk out, Carlos' athleticism that would have him learning every dancing instantly while keeping everyone spirits up, and surprisingly limitless potential in Logan (out of all of them) that would make BTR go from world famous to historically unforgettable.
Gustavo's biggest problem though was in fact Logan. The manager can't get the brainiac to step out of his comfort zone not matter what situation happens.
"You know what? Let's just call it a day since you dogs can't seem to get anything right!" Gustavo knew he was being harsh when he said things like that but it was only because he didn't want them ending up like Boy Quake, they were a disaster because they never pushed themselves.
Before he could go to his studio to try to write a song that would push all four of them, Logan walked up.
"Hey Gustavo, can I talk to you for a minute? You know alone?"
"Logan are you sure?" Kelly, bless her heart for looking out for the boys in a way the manager couldn't.
"Yea, it'll be fine. Just give me like 10 minutes before you guys come rushing back in ok?"
"But but..." Carlos, James, and Kendall were all saying as Freight Train and Kelly were pushing them out the door. Logan always considered them his brothers and the three of them were strangely more protective of him out of everyone, even Katie.
"Alright smart dog, what's up?" Gustavo couldn't help but be curious since he knows that the boys practically sprint to the Palm Woods pool when he lets them go early.
"It's just that well...I wanted to thank you for spending so much time on trying to get me to the other guy's level. I know I'm the worst when it comes to both singing and dancing. So thanks for not just throwing me to the curb," Logan seemed so genuine about it that Gustavo can't help but wonder were the other three had found this kid. How many teenage boys show that much respect for authority figures?
