Disclaimer and A/N: Sorry this has taken me so long to get out! I had major writer's block on it! Hopefully Elysian will be faster! *grin* As always, Michelle and Stephanie belong to us, and FFC owns Daisy and Ezra!

Chance Encounter
Chapter 7

"Ahh the elusive Ezra..." Michelle started to tease Daisy but stopped when she noticed the horrified look on her friend's face. "What?"

Daisy gestured with her hand, and Michelle looked over to where she was pointing. Ezra was sitting across the table from a dark haired girl that looked oddly familiar to Michelle, but she couldn't quite place where she had seen her before for a few minutes. Then it all snapped into place, and Michelle's mouth fell open.

"I know that girl! Her name's Stepahnie. She's in one of my classes." Michelle told Daisy.

"Then why isn't she IN that class?" Daisy muttered out loud, gritting her teeth, and crossing her arms over her chest.

"It doesn't meet today." Michelle hadn't seemed to notice that Daisy was NOT happy about this new development. "Wanna go say hi?"

"No!" Daisy snapped quickly, turning and moving toward a booth across the room from Ezra and the girl. "Let's just eat."

"Ooookay..." Michelle followed her angry roommate across the crowded room.

"So, tell me about you're 'friend' Daisy." Stephanie requested, making the quotation marks with her fingers when she said the word friend.

Ezra snickered at the girl. She was quite outspoken, he had found, and if she wanted to know something, she didn't heistate to ask.

"We've know each other since we were sixteen. We meet at the school I told you about." Ezra began, sipping his milkshake and then muffling a laugh when his eating companion rolled her eyes.

"Yeah, that's real sweet, but I MEANT, is she you're friend, or you're FRRIIENND?" Stephanie drug out the word friend, and wiggled her thick eyebrows suggestively.

"You're crazy, you know that." Ezra informed her, shaking his head.

"Hey, I'm just checking. I don't think I want her coming after me in a dark alley way, ya know?" The brunette shuddered dramatically, making Ezra laugh again.

"Are you sure you're not a drama major, instead of a biology major?" He asked, still smiling.

"Well, I do like to act." Stephanie agreed, nodding her head sagely, before getting back to the point at hand. "But you obvious like her!"

"Well yeah, she's my friend." Ezra allowed, not knowing what else to say.

"Not what I meant. I can tell." Stephanie told him, nodding again.

"You can tell what?"

"When a guy is in love with a girl."

"I'm not in love with her!"

"Defensive much?" Stephanie questioned, a big smile on her face.

"You really are nuts, aren't you?" Ezra demanded, trying to keep his laughter in check.

"Yes." Stephanie nodded solumly. "That's what's everyone says."

Ezra nearly died laughing.

"What is she saying that's so damn funny?" Daisy wanted to know, watching her best friend and the waitress from the coffee shop talk.

"She is pretty funny." Michelle told Daisy, watching the duo across the room as well. "She does this impresion of Sandi, from Daria..." The girl trailed off when she noticed Daisy's glare. She lifted an eyebrow. "I thought you said you didn't like him like that, hmm?"

"I don't!" Daisy denied, shaking her head back and forth.

"Oh sure!" Michelle replied. "Then why are you glaring at them?"

"I'm not!"

"Yeah right."

Daisy glared at her for a second, before standing up. "Look, Michelle, I'm not very hungry. I think I'm gonna just go home now, or something."

Before her roommate could say anythign further, Daisy was already weaving her way out of the room, her long dark hair swinging with each step she took.
