"He's killing himself over this." Sakura whispered to her mentor as they looked through the door at the two. "What can we do though?" Tsunade sighed. "Nothing. Our hands are tied."
Inside, Naruto fairly sobbed into Sasuke's bed sheets. "You idiot." He murmured, clasping his hand. "You prideful idiot." He swiped at the bandages circling pale wrists and took a shuddering breath. "Don't you know how much I need you?"

It hurt to watch them together. They looked so happy together. He knew it would be like this. He knew that when he broke it off. But God it hurt.
It was necessary, he thought. That idiot never would have broken it off. He never would have left him. So he had to do it. Pity he couldn't forget him. His lips as they rained kisses; his fists as they rained blows. His mouth; promises and threats. With one final look he left.
"Naruto, give him up." Naruto smiled at his friend but shook his head. "I can't He's my heart; my everything."

The trees blurred as he passed. A branch caught his cheek and drew blood but he didn't stop. He had to find him. He had to apologize. He couldn't forget how hurt he had looked or, before that, all the memories they had made. He skidded and fell but was up in a second.

He hit a wall and bounced off but he kept going, and then he hit him. They both paused and stared, breathing hard. One look, one indifferent glance, and it was over.
